From the Director
Moving isn't easy, especially when staff have been working in the same spaces for years. However,
it has given us a chance to clean out and clean up. Now we're in "cubicle city," where we will
learn new working patterns and relationships. Kudos to move director Kathy Hill and to staff for
making the transition smooth.

Libraries on the Move!
October signifies the beginning of a long-anticipated renovation for the Smithsonian Libraries. The
physical offices housing the cataloging and acquisitions departments, as well as the Director's
Office, Digital Services Division, and Development and Administration Offices, have moved to a
temporary swing space while our former location is renovated. We will move back to the
Constitution Avenue side of the museum in (hopefully) 2012.
SI Research Online Expands
The Libraries just added two new Smithsonian departments to its website, SI Research Online: the
National Museum of Natural History's Anthropology Department and the Marine Station at Fort Pierce,
FL. SI Research Online includes both the Smithsonian Bibliography of citations to Smithsonian
research and the SI Digital Repository, which contains digitized full-text of publications.
