California exchange report V-BID's impact on plan quality & affordability   
In their discussion draft report, the California Exchange's staff recommend V-BID innovations to encourage healthy behaviors and patient compliance, as well as to integrate new clinical evidence into care through appropriate incentives. See summary, pages 76-83 and 151.

Massachusetts physician groups have employed a new reimbursement model that has reduced the rate of increase in health care spending by an average of 2.8 percent by offering provider rewards for controlling spending and improving the quality of care.

Our next brief in an ongoing series explores the intersection of  PCMHs and V-BID. The PCMH is a supply-side mechanism that enables clinicians to deliver higher quality care more efficiently. By providing financial incentives like lower co-payments, members who enroll in a PCMH can use V-BID principles to influence provider choice.
