UNCW Entrepreneurship Center NewsletterNovember 2010
Next week is a very important week in the young life of the UNCW Entrepreneurship Center. The EC has joined a select number of Universities from around the world to host Global Entrepreneurship Week. It is a week designed to celebrate all things entrepreneurial in Southeast NC and continue pushing forward the idea that entrepreneurship is one of the primary keys to our economic prosperity and growth.

The EC is hosting a series of exciting and enlightening events starting on November 16th with the speaker series, continuing on the 17th with a very special movie screening, followed by an early morning Power Breakfast on the 18th, and ending with the grand finale, student rocket pitch, also on the 18th. These events are free and your attendance illustrates your support of UNCW, the EC and entrepreneurship education. It also helps support our students who are working diligently on their rocket pitches and helps connect you to our entrepreneurial community in the region. So please take the time to attend two, three, or all four events. I promise the contacts made, knowledge gained, entertainment enjoyed, and advice offered to students, will energize you in ways you never expected. See you there!

Sincerely, Jonathan Rowe

Rocket Pitch Event Goes to the Horses

In one of the most memorable events yet, five local entrepreneurs pitched their innovative business models and provided product demonstrations to an audience that numbered well over 100. The companies included Equine Acres, Shell Bond LLC, Cape Fear Motorcycle, Treadwell Corporation and Custom Fit Meals. The entrepreneurs brought passion and energy to their presentations that highlighted the incredible products on display including materials to organically clean up oil spills, a way to end obesity through customized meals, a machine to maintain blood flow in the legs, and a horse farm to help the disabled. By the way, can you find the special guest in the picture above?
