Dads make a big difference: Teenagers want their parents involved in their lives, study shows.
from Rose Bible eCharts and eNews
Although teenagers sometimes roll their eyes and storm away when asked to do their chores, a study of teen preferences, The State of our Nation's Youth, shows they actually want the opposite.
When asked what they wished for to have a better life -
- 14% of high school students wanted a "bigger house."
- 27% said "more money to buy items such as televisions and cars.."
- 46% said they wished for "more time spent together with family."
This may come as a shock, but this is just one surprising study that shows the importance of parents "and particularly fathers" in the lives of their children.
And there are more amazing stats: Did you know -
- Children whose dads who share a meal with them do significantly better academically than children whose dads do not?
- Single dads and step-dads who get involved in the kids' school on average will help their grades?
- Having a dad who is married to their mother and living in the same home has been proven to help kids avoid substance abuse?
There are so many important ways that dads make a difference, and they don't even know it.
If dads only realized how important they are, our country's families could be much better.

From the Executive Director
The statistics show that parents are still important - even in today's shifting culture - to the well being of our kids. When one or both parents is not available, then a caring adult can act as a surrogate to provide affection, encouragement, guidance, and a listening ear. Can you be the caring adult in a kid's life today? What a privilege we have been given in the Lord's design for family and affection.
With care,
