MLI Vancouver
"Evening with Crowley, Coyne and Hébert"
|
MLI
burst onto the Vancouver
scene with a hugely successful event co-hosted by Liberal Senator Larry
Campbell and former Conservative Cabinet Minister John Reynolds and Emceed by Rick Peterson.
A sell out crowd
of more than 200 gathered at the Pan Pacific hotel for a night of networking and
a panel discussion with Andrew Coyne, Chantal Hebert and Brian Crowley. We
are looking forward to similar events in other Canadian cities. If you have any
ideas/suggestions, please get in touch. |
Free to Learn... Public supports MLI
plan
|
A clear majority of Canadians - fifty-seven percent- want federal funding for post-secondary education of First Nations youth to go
directly to the individuals themselves. This is the key finding of a national survey carried out for the Macdonald-Laurier Institute by COMPAS Inc., in May, 2010. The survey
echoes the findings of MLI's first study, Free to Learn, by Calvin Helin
and Dave Snow. That study calls for the creation of Aboriginal Post Secondary
Savings Accounts that would be opened at birth for every registered First
Nations child.

The Canadian Century hit the book
stores... with a bang!
|
The Canadian Century,
MLI's first book publication, hit the bookstore shelves in May. Within days,
almost 5,000 copies were shipped. And from the very
first days, authors Brian Lee Crowley, Jason Clemens and Niels Veldhuis have
been prominent in the media in Canada
and - rare for a Canadian book - in the United States. The Canadian Century has been highlighted in
the Globe and Mail, Vancouver Sun and Winnipeg Free Press and in the US in Foreign Policy magazine, to name but a few. Canadian
Century is one of Canada's
key public policy publications of the year! |
MLI in the corridors of power
|
Following the successful launch of Canadian Century, MLI Managing Director
Brian Lee Crowley met with the Clerk of the Privy Council, Wayne Wouters.
In addition to a discussion of the public policy issues raised in the book,
Brian also presented Canada's
top public servant, with a copy of the book. Read more...
