Greetings!
Are you struggling with time management? Are you usually late? Do you find yourself wondering what you accomplished at the end of each day?
We can't create a longer day or completely manage others but we can manage ourselves and what we do with each day. Self-management is the new time management. If you find yourself struggling with time management I have 5 tips that will help you stay on track. Stop Multi-Tasking. You really can't do it all at once. Believe me, I've tried! Give your brain a break. Focus on one thing at a time and you will feel less stressed and make fewer mistakes. Choose 3 Tasks Each Day. Write them down and prioritize to ensure you complete the most important task first. If your day gets away from you, at least you will have knocked off the highest priority item. Done is Better Than Perfect. Are tasks taking you longer than they should because you are trying to achieve perfection? I'm sorry to break it to you but perfection is something we will never achieve. Strive for excellence and move on. "Doing the right thing is more important than doing things right." Peter Drucker Leave Some Breathing Room in Your Schedule. Are you constantly running late or running on empty? Don't over schedule. Factor in travel and prep time between appointments. Next time someone asks you to commit to one more event or project, wait 24 hours to respond. Simply tell them you need to check your schedule. Reduce Distractions. Set a timer and limit the time spent on the internet, phone calls, and email. When the timer when goes off, ask yourself, "am I doing what am I supposed to be doing?" Better yet, turn off your electronics and shut your office door. Implement at least one of these 5 tips and you will feel more in control of your time and yourself. Let me know which one worked the best for you. |
