Greetings!

Happy New Year from my family to yours.
I'm betting you would prefer to start 2011 on an organized note. I'm hosting a FREE workshop to celebrate Get Organized (GO) Month in January. More information is in the right-hand column.
In addition, the following 10 quick tips will help you make a fresh start.
1. Establish a home for tax documents. Soon you will start receiving W-2's, 1099's, charitable contribution receipts and other tax documents. Make tax time less stressful. Place a folder labeled 'TAXES' in you mail sorting area to hold these important documents.
2. Are you storing Christmas decorations you haven't used to deck your halls? Consider donating Christmas decorations you no longer like or use instead of storing them another year
3. Purge your files. A painless and simple way to do this is to remove a chunk of old papers from a file whenever you file new papers. See this link for a list of papers to keep.
4. Download and organize your holiday photos on your computer. Immediately delete poor quality or unattractive photos.
5. Clear out your email inbox and start fresh in 2011. Delete your junk and trash email folders while you are at it. Instead of storing emails in your inbox, set up email folders for pending, orders placed, follow-up, and urgent emails.
6. Find a home for the gifts you received. Donate or return gifts you will never use or wear. You can do it! Don't let the feeling of guilt add clutter to your life.
7. Do you receive a lot of mail? Remove your name from junk mail lists. DMAchoice.org
8. Organize your loose recipes into a binder. Slip recipes into sheet protectors and they will stay clean and dry.
9. Have you ordered from mail order catalogs and are now receiving catalogs from companies you've never ordered from? Your name and address may have been sold to other mail order lists. Opt out of mail order catalogs at catalog choice
10. Create more space in your kitchen cabinets. Move those rarely used dishes, platters and specialty appliances onto an "entertaining section" of your basement shelving.
Save space in the kitchen for items you use on a weekly or daily basis.
Choose a tip a week. Little changes add up to a more organized life. Which tip are you going to use this week? I would love to hear about your progress.
