Creating a Simply Organized Life
June 2010
Greetings!

Declare Your Independence
From Your Clutter

Do you own your stuff or does your stuff own you?

Is your stuff getting in the way of your relationships or maybe even taking priority over your relationships?

It's time to declare your independence. Follow these 4 simple steps and in a few short weeks you will see a noticeable difference.

Step 1:  Find 20 items, every week, to donate or toss.  Look for items you no longer like, use, or have recently tripped over.

Step 2:  Set a timer for 20 minutes to keep you focused.

Step 3:  Make a commitment. Choose one day a week for clutter clearing.  Write your "clutter independence dates" on your calendar.

Step 4:  Put the donations into your car and drive them to a donation center each week.

How do you feel at the end of the month?  I would love to hear from you.

The Organized Baker

My daughter, Natalie, enjoys cake decorating and baking.  She's able to enjoy it even more because she's very organized (and I must add, tidy).  Natalie doesn't waste time looking for her tools and ingredients.  They all have a home in our kitchen.

Her small cake decorating tools are organized into containers.  Natalie contained her "like items" together.  This is one of the principles of organization, "like with like".

Natalie carefully cleans her tools and returns them to their home when she's finished.  When she feels inspired by a holiday, a bake sale, or just has some free time, and a wicked sweet tooth like her mother, she's ready to roll.

baking supplies

The cabinet next to our oven holds most of our baking supplies: flour, sugars, vanilla, baking powder, ect.  We also keep our mixing bowls in this location.  If you like to bake, it's convenient to have all your ingredients in one place.   This cabinet is next to the refrigerator for easy access to our cold ingredients.  A drawer below the cabinet holds our measuring spoons and cups.

I'm impressed by her creations.  By the way, she did not acquire her talent from her mother!
