Simplify Summer
It's possible to have a relaxing summer with your children. Stay organized with these 3 tips.
1. Use one family calendar. Changes to your schedule are inevitable. If you use a paper calendar, write everything in pencil. The calendar will remain neat and legible.
Keep yourself and your children, from becoming too overwhelmed and stressed. If you have more than one child, set a limit of one activity per child. Before making any promises to your children, pencil the activities into your calendar and watch for any overlap or other conflicts. Be sure to consider the travel time needed between activities.
Ask your children for their favorite activity.
2. Routines are your friend. Stay organized by asking everyone to pitch in and help put things away at the end of each day.
Delegate chores to your children through regular morning routines (chores before fun time). These routines could include: making their beds, sweeping the kitchen, emptying the dishwasher, feeding pets, taking out the trash, or watering plants.
What chores are your children going to help with this summer? (my daughter will at least be in charge of dishes)
3. Be prepared for spontaneous outings. You can be prepared and spontaneous at the same time! Stock a tote bag with sunscreen, hats, snacks, wet wipes, Ziploc bags, insect repellant and band aids. Keep the tote bag in your car or at your door.
Make a list of the items you need to purchase or find for your tote bag.
Enjoy your simplified summer.
