Maggi's Corner: Getting Clearer, Going Deeper
An Unexpected Moment of Peace
Student Question: What if I can't feel the energy?
Greetings!
Spring, a time of regeneration, is just around the corner.  If it's been a while since you practiced Healing Touch, let this Spring be your season of renewal.  Come to a practice group or repeat a class.  You will amazed at how quickly the energy returns to support you.

I hope the articles below will inspire you to continue your HT journey.  Thanks to Sherry DePinto and Nanci Smith for sharing their stories.
Warmly,
Maggi Hutchinson

Sherry DePinto, a Level 2 student from Bridgewater, NJ,
describes how she used HT to help her contractor husband after a long, hard day at work.  She wrote:

My husband, Michael, is an electrical contractor.  Although he loves his job, the work is physically demanding and he continually gets cuts, bumps and bruises.  The bruising is the worst since he takes a baby aspirin each day that thins his blood.

Recently, Michael worked a 12 hour day installing custom European lighting in a brand new German bakery.  Because of the position of the lights, he stood on his ladder stretching over the counter for many hours.  As he worked, the shins of both legs repeatedly banged and pressed against the rungs of the ladder.  He arrived home that evening completely exhausted with 2 red, swollen welts the size of golf balls on each shin.

Since I had just completed Level 2, I offered to do some Healing Touch.  Surprisingly, my husband, who is usually very skeptical, put his doubts aside and said, "What the heck, it can't hurt, right?"  As I scanned the injured areas, I could feel the heat and inflammation.  I then began to do Energetic Ultrasound followed by Hands in Motion Clearing for about 5-7 minutes on each shin.

The next morning my husband woke me up and was stunned.  His shins were completely normal, no bumps, no bruises, nor any sign of his recent injury.  He said, "Sherry, I can't believe that I am saying this, but I think that Healing Touch worked."  Michael is now my biggest advocate for Healing Touch.

Since then I have done many Healing Touch sessions on my husband, children, and friends using the Level 1 & 2 techniques.  They have all felt the benefit of this powerful energy therapy.  In turn, the more I practice, the more confident I get.  I am very much looking forward to taking Level 3.

Getting Clearer, Going Deeper
One summer's evening, my dear friend, Judy Sorrenti, CHTP, summarized in three words the role of a Healing Touch Practitioner:  "Show up Clear".

She could not have been more on point.  Simply show up clear.  The clearer you are, the more easily the energy will flow through you during a Healing Touch session.

But how to get there?  What is the path to clarity?

The importance of self care is emphasized at all levels of Healing Touch.  Your physical body needs to be cared for so that you are comfortably able to do the techniques.  Regular exercise, good nutrition and plenty of sleep are basics.

An expanded, open energy field also enhances your health and well being.  Take the time to regularly clear and balance your field with the Chakra Connection or the Spiral Meditation Techniques.  Better yet, treat yourself to a Healing Touch session.

A rested and relaxed mind is also important.  Reserve some time each day to be quiet.  Journal or reflect on your experience of the day.  Feel gratitude for the person you are and for your life's journey.

Have fun.  Do something you like just for the pure joy of being in the moment.

An addition to your regular self-care routine is the Hara Alignment Meditation learned in Healing Touch Level 3.  It can be used daily to clear your field, open your chakras and raise your vibration.  Learning and practicing Level 3 techniques will also bring you to a deeper level of understanding in this work.

Even though Level 3 can be a ground breaking experience, always remember that knowing who you are at the deepest level of your being is a life-long inquiry.  Weekend HT classes are just the beginning of this magnificent journey.
Healing Touch is a reconnection...a remembering or returning to the deepest aspect of who we truly are.

An Unexpected Moment of Peace

Healing Touch Apprentice, Nanci Smith, RN, from Montville, NJ is a Healing Touch volunteer on the oncology unit at Morristown Memorial Hospital.  She writes of her unique experience working with a patient on the deepest level of being.

I was assigned to do Healing Touch with a Korean gentleman, who spoke little English.  I was told in advance that his wife, who was visiting, might be skeptical and a bit resistant.  When I reached his room, I introduced myself, briefly explained Healing Touch and told them what I would be doing.  His wife translated as I spoke.  The patient simply looked at me and said, "You just work."

I observed that he was jaundiced, his abdomen was swollen and he appeared very uncomfortable.  As I gently scanned his energy field, his eyes followed me.  I then began with Magnetic Clearing.  Again his eyes followed me.  At the start of the third sweep over his body, I noticed his eyes were closed and I could hear his rhythmic, shallow but noisy breathing. He had drifted off to sleep.

I continued to balance his energy centers by doing a Chakra Connection.  His wife sat silently at his bedside facing us.  Her hands were folded in prayer, fingertips pointing to the ceiling, her head bowed.  I felt that in her own way she was contributing to the energy work and the highest good.

I noticed the patient's breathing had slowed down and was less labored.  I felt such a powerful presence of warmth and peace that tears welled up in my eyes as I finished the session.  As I held the tops of his feet, I felt as if I could have stayed there forever.  He continued to sleep as I lowered the bed and left the room.  His wife looked up, nodded, and smiled.  She then gave me the "thumbs up" sign with both hands.

Later, in what I might describe as a moment of great synchronicity, I ran into his wife in the lobby as I was leaving the hospital.  She reached out for my hand and told me how beautiful I was to her husband.  She thanked me several times for making him comfortable and helping him get some much needed sleep.  I feel a deep sense of gratitude to have been part of a special moment in the midst of a hi-tech regional medical center.

Student Question

Q. What if I don't feel the energy?  Can I still do Healing Touch?

A.  Absolutely!  In the beginning many students do not sense the energy flowing through their hands nor are they able to feel the energy field of another person.  This is quite normal.  Sensing the human energy field is a skill that takes practice and develops over time.

Keep in mind that sensitivity in the hands is only one aspect of HT.  Some people have it naturally from the very start.  Others develop this skill gradually and to varying degrees. But, that's not what is important.

What's essential for doing HT is to be open and present, unimpeded by one's own thoughts, doubts or expectations.  This is why we begin every HT session by centering ourselves and setting our intention for the highest good.  When we become still, we create "space' for healing to happen.  HT is about creating this space.

Let go of your concern about doing it "right" or bringing about a specific outcome or result.  Whatever happens is right for that moment.  Trust that this is so
