Student Questions
Greetings!

Healing Touch NJ is growing and expanding.  Ten years ago, there were fewer than 25 students and only a handful of certified practitioners in the Garden State.  Today we are almost 300 strong!  This Fall, Level 1 will be offered at St. Francis in Denville, NJ on September 25 & 26 as well as a new venue, the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ on November 6 & 7.  Look for details in the upcoming HTNJ monthly calendar.  Wishing you a wonderful summer.
Warmly,
Maggi
BambooHT in Cardiac Care
The Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine in La Jolla, CA has long been a leader in offering Healing Touch to patients both before and after cardiac surgery. Cardiologist, Dr. Mimi Guarneri, is the medical director and an advocate of Healing Touch.  She says, "We give patients the best that Western medicine has to offer, and sometimes they just don't seem to be improving.  Then we offer Healing Touch and it turns them around. When you see that time after time, you start to think, there's something to this."

What follows is an amazing story from Linda Bettler, CHTP, Hellertown, PA, that exemplifies how Healing Touch practitioners can be a vital part of the healthcare team.  Linda writes:

I recently worked with an 82 year old psychiatrist who had open heart surgery.  Although the operation was deemed a success, his recovery did not proceed as anticipated.  Two days after the surgery, he remained on a ventilator, non-responsive and unable to breathe on his own.  His doctors suspected a stroke or seizure during the surgery.  His wife, a retired nurse, called me and asked if I could do Healing Touch as a last resort.

I arrived at the Cardiac Critical Care Unit ready to work.  I had previously prepared by doing the Hara Alignment Meditation.  I began with 30 minutes of Magnetic Clearing followed by a Full Body Connection.  As I worked, I talked, prayed and gently told him what I was doing.  I sensed a tremendous amount of heat releasing into the energy field around his head.  I then used Etheric Template Clearing and finished with Hands Still over his cranium with the intention to release anything that was not for his highest good.

Near the end of the session, he opened and then closed his eyes.  He also moved his toes although the nurse believed that was simply a spastic muscle reaction.  The following morning, the hospital called his wife with some amazing news:  he was responsive, breathing on his own and trying to speak.  When I returned that day to do HT again, his exhausted eyes met mine and he gently mouthed the words, "Thank you."  I am humbled by this incredible gift.
Daffodil tallHT Relieves a Migraine
The physical symptoms of a migraine headache are intense pain (often in one area), nausea and light sensitivity.  The energetic symptom is a "pain spike" that extends outward from the head into the energy field.  In Healing Touch Level Two, students learn to locate and sense the pain spike and then use HT to diminish its size and intensity.  Clearing the pain spike can resolve the migraine especially if treated early.

Read this captivating story by Diane, a level 3 student, who used HT to completely relieve her own migraine headache.  Here is what Diane wrote:

When I was young, I occasionally suffered from migraine headaches that were always preceded by an "aura".  (Note: Aura is a medical term used to describe a symptom that comes before a migraine and can take the form of bright lights moving across the visual field.)

For many years I was migraine free, but recently, while watching TV one evening, I saw the migraine aura.  As I observed its movement, I decided it would be best to go to bed.  I knew the pattern well and was already anticipating a major headache the next day.   Mentally I planned how I would cancel my appointments and rearrange my schedule.

After the visual sensations stopped, I recalled learning a Healing Touch migraine relief technique in my Level 2 class.  As I lay in bed, I could feel the cone shaped pain spike projecting outward on the left side of my head.  I began to assess it with my hands to see if I could locate the outer edge or the tip of the spike.  Every time my hands passed through the spike or if I moved them too quickly, I sensed pain, irritation and static in my head.  So I slowed my movements down to a crawl and reached out with my left arm as far as I could.  I then began very slowly and gently doing Hands in Motion to clear the tip of the spike.  I had to stop and rest my left arm many times, but as I kept slowly clearing, I could feel the spike diminish until it was only two inches from my head.  I then finished clearing with both hands.

I fell asleep exhausted, but relaxed and calm.  When I awoke the next morning, it took me a few seconds to recall what had happened the night before.  I remembered the migraine, but was surprised to realize that I had NO headache - neither sharp nor dull.  Just a perfectly normal headache-free day was ahead of me.  I am so grateful for having learned this technique and wish to share my story so that you, too, can be inspired to help yourself.

Emphasis on Clearing

The more I talk with HT practitioners and students about their experiences, the more I realize the importance of clearing the field.  It is simply not enough to do a minute or two of Hands in Motion.  It can often take 5-10 minutes to clear the built up stress and anxiety of day to day issues and concerns that are held in the energy field.  If there is a serious or chronic condition, re-patterning the field might take 20 to 30 minutes (see the Cardiac Care story in this issue).

In my sessions I now devote at least 1/3 of the time to clearing techniques.  Consider this analogy: would you paint the outside of your house without clearing away the old, unwanted peeling paint?  Of course not!  This kind of preparation is essential to a beautiful result.  So too in HT, we first prepare the field with a clearing technique.  Depending on the level of class attended, that may be Hands in Motion, Ultrasound or Pain Drain (for specific areas), Magnetic Clearing or Etheric Template Clearing.  Even Chelation learned in Level 3 has a powerful clearing component as well as charging and balancing capabilities.

I have recently developed a penchant for Magnetic Clearing (Level 1).  It is an extremely powerful and effective technique for relieving pain and anxiety.  Remember to use it for the "ic's" (any toxic or chronic condition).  If done after surgery on patients who received general anesthesia, Magnetic Clearing will help relieve side effects and speed recovery.

But don't reserve this technique for special occasions.  We all need Magnetic Clearing.  And, don't be put off by the slow movement needed to do the technique.  Just keep your shoulders and arms loose and relaxed.  At a recent practice group session, I received Magnetic Clearing and can attest to its efficacy to clear and lighten the field.  Considering that the physical body is not even being touched, this technique is amazing!

If you haven't done this technique in a while, I suggest revisiting Magnetic Clearing.  And if you can't find someone to do it for you, come to the next practice group and request it.  See for yourself the difference it can make.

Student Questions

Q. After taking Healing Touch Level Four, is there a time limit for completing the homework assignments?

A. There is no time limit for completing the assignments between Levels 4 and 5.  The beauty of Healing Touch is that you go at your own pace.  Some students finish in less than a year, others want to savor the experience and take several years.

To become a certified practitioner, a student must complete a one year mentorship with a CHTP.  If needed, the mentorship may last more than one year for those students going at a more leisurely pace. The role of the mentor is to help the apprentice complete the assignments and deepen their knowledge of Healing Touch.  You may work with your mentor by phone, email or meet in person.  Your mentor's recommendation, written at the end of the mentorship, is valid for two years.

In addition to having a mentor, many students find the Advanced HT Practice quite helpful as it is tailored to the needs of the upper level student.  All students who have completed the Level 3 class are welcome to attend.
