Dear Friends,
This update is way overdue!

"Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ." (2Ti 2:3)
We've been greatly encouraged lately by the warfare imagery often used in the Scriptures to describe the Christian ministry. Sustained attacks from several different fronts have been our lot over recent months, though at present, at leas t some of these seem to be subsiding. God has graciously encouraged us through His Word, other good books, and of course, your faithful prayer support. A few people have left the church and a few more may leave over the coming weeks. We are not surprised, but are very saddened. The church leadership is strong and united, as is the core of the congregation. Do continue to pray that through this, God will strengthen the work and unite us in "love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith". (1 Tim 1.5)
Of course, when the bullets are flying, it is difficult to concentrate on anything else other than the final objective! Yet we know that God is at work through it all and that it is for our good. After all, the one who promised "I will build my church" is also the "Captain of the Lord's host"! (Matt 16.18, Josh 5:14-15) The Lord even allows for some visible victories in the midst of battle. For instance, our Christmas program and meal were well attended. The Gospel was clearly presented to over 80 people with several visitors among the crowd! Do pray for wisdom and grace as we seek to follow and serve our Captain!

"The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge." (Ps 46:7)
In our last update we mentioned that we felt that Catherine was developing intolerance to her current medication. She continued to weaken during our Christmas travels. She was able to attend a wonderful conference on missions in Detroit at the beginning of January, but had to miss the last day's sessions because of seizures. Upon our return, she began but then had to drop

a couple of online classes. More recently, we were all thrilled that she was hired by a firm in Greenville, SC to do simple translation for their Qubec operations. The
job could be done at her own pace and from home. However, only two days after beginning work, she had the worst seizures in two years and had to be taken to the emergency room by ambulance. This week we take her to another appointment with a specialist in Montreal. Fortunately, Valerie (who has her own epilepsy challenges) is able to fill in at the new job for now.
