Update on Catherine
As of
Friday, April 23rd, Catherine has undergone all of the tests at the
Montreal Neurological Institute. She
will return for another checkup in July, otherwise she seems to be well on the
road to recovery! Her sleeping patterns are
back to normal, and she has already returned to part time work. She even accompanied us last weekend to
another funeral in Sept-Îles, and though she did have a seizure, she bounced
back from it relatively well. The
conclusions from the tests were as follows: First that her brain does not use glucose properly, though we aren't
sure how that works into the whole picture. Second, she is having two types of seizures, epileptic
and non epileptic. The latter are triggered by the former in situations of
extreme fatigue. Third, that her problem is benign. She is on Trileptal in
order to control the epileptic seizures.
So, Lord
willing, she should be able to return to Bob Jones University to continue her
freshman year this fall. It will be a
challenge for her to adjust to certain limitations and to new habits. She will not be able to take a full academic
load and will be restricted in the kind of job that she can have. Please pray for her as she learns to get the
right amount of sleep, eat properly (including snacks), plan time wisely, and
most of all trust God in difficult situations (reducing stress).
Thank you
for your prayer support through this trial. Needless to say, Melanie and I both have gotten quite behind in many
areas of life and ministry. Please
continue to pray as we begin an incredibly full summer. We are so thankful for the rest that the Lord
provided for us in California last fall. Little did we know! But He knew
all!
