Greetings!

Some exciting new things as well as a few new challenges present themselves this month at SilverWorks. Hang on!

New Copper Enameling Workshop

enamel dustA great new added tool to the studio this month was my sweet little Paragon Kiln. This opens up some new class options and the first on the list is Copper Enameling. This-no-experience necessary workshop is fun for novices as well as those of you who have smithing experience and want to add another technique to your tool box. It is especially fun with Fold-Formed designs. See what the first class produced here.

Acetylene Shortage

An explosion at the Louisville, KY plant of Carbide Industries, LLC occurred on Monday, March 21.  CI is the nation's primary supplier of calcium carbide, the raw material used to create acetylene. What does this mean for SilverWorks? Suppliers are rationing which means we can only get one tank refilled at a time. So occasionally the studio may be running 3 torches instead of the usual four.
