Discover Silversmithing 1
February 16 & 17, Wed, Thurs, 10:30 am- 1:30pm.
Handcraft your own silver jewelry while learning the basics of silver fabrication techniques. Skills learned include the use of an acetylene torch, soldering, sawing, forging, and fusion. Create 3 pieces of finished silver jewelry of your own design. This workshop makes you eligible for open studio time.
Materials fee $25.
Skill Builder: Applique
January 29, Saturday, 10:30-4:30
Add symbolism to your designs with this concentrated Appliqu� project. You will learn how to solder layers of cut-out silver to create depth. A patina is applied for contrast. Technique can be applied to project of your choice. Must have taken Discover Silversmithing or Beginning Silversmithing. Material fees based on chosen project.
Skill Builder: Using Stones
February 16 & 17. Wednesday & Thursday 10:30am-1:30pm.
Add to your smithing toolbox by learning how to construct a bezel from scratch and to set a cabochon stone. Will also explore incorporating your bezel into a design. Must have taken Discover Silversmithing. Materials fee based on individual's choice of stone and project.
Silver Saturdays:
 
February 19, 10:30-4:30
Create original jewelry pieces while learning the basics of silversmithing techniques in this 1-day workshop. Skills learned include: use of an acetylene torch, soldering, sawing & forging. Students will complete 3 pieces of finished jewelry. Bring a bag lunch & your creativity! This workshop makes you eligible for open studio time. Materials fee $25.

The most mis-pronounced term I have ever seen in the industry. Everyone wants to pronounce the "l". Think "grass" as in sod when you say the word. Solder is the magic mix of lower melting point metal (silver+copper+zinc) that binds all our creative joints together.
