torch and tree
newsletter for the emerging silversmith
August-Sept, 2010
Greetings!

At SilverWorks we are winding down the summer and ramping up for fall. It has been a busy summer with a lot going on. It was great seeing you in a class offered at SilverWorks and taking advantage of open studio!

In this newsletter I deconstruct a familiar term, present a new studio tip, new classes, and a few other things you will see in the studio.

Creatively,
Blair Anderson

A Simple Filing Tipfiling
Got a complex piece that needs some filing in an awkward place?

A little resourcefulness goes along way. Think outside the box and simplify. My students often hear me say, "It isn't rocket surgery".

It is true. Sometimes the solution is much closer than you think... common sense in fact. Employ problem solving from other disciplines and you may find solutions present themselves effortlessly.

A simple tip for filing...  use masking tape...

Parking Pass

SilverWorks has been given four parking permit cards for use for anyone who needs to park in the upper lot for open studio time.
  1. Park in the loading area in front of the studio while you come upstairs to sign out a pass.
  2. Park your car in the upper lot with the pass on your rear view mirror.
  3. Return the pass when your session is over.
These are issued by the park for our convenience. Free parking without a pass is available in the main lot across the bridge.
