A Tribute To A Friend

Our friend William "Bill" McAfee passed away on January 2, 2012 after falling approximately 30 feet off a rock-face in North Carolina. When I started my business/ministry, it was Bill who believed in what I did, and because he realized the importance of developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, he sowed into Alive Again both financially and with his expertise. I will forever be grateful towards him and his family. I trust that the seeds that he sowed into my life will bear much fruit. Bill, we will miss you.

Completed and New Boot Camps

I am happy to report that Alive Again Nutrition Boot Camp 1 was launched in January. We ran a day class as well as an evening class. All who attended were so blessed and encouraged to learn new things about how to eat clean and follow a balanced healthy life style making small changes as they go along. I am running two more nutrition boot camps before summer holidays.  Please contact Lere at:

Boot Camp Testimonies

These are testimonies that have come in from some of those that have just completed the first nutrition boot camp.

I am one of Lere's cheerleaders!  The Nutritional Boot Camp has been everything I thought it would be and more.  I heard her speak at a Woman in Philanthropy Luncheon in December and realized with great excitement, "She has knowledge that I have been seeking for years."   I could not sign up fast enough her Boot Camp.  The knowledge that I have gained has changed the way I think about everything I put in my mouth as well as educating me on how I can take better care of my family thru nutrition.  She is a delightful speaker with extraordinarily sincere passion about her subject matter - her enthusiasm is contagious and her mantra to make changes one step at a time makes it doable. I highly recommend the class as well as taking advantage of every opportunity to hear her speak.  I feel very blessed to have crossed paths with her and grateful to her for a new way to think about food!

I am so inspired by Lere's Nutrition Boot Class.  Putting into action all we learned will be a challenge but I know it will be a positive "life changing" event.  I am talking about the class to all I see and recommending participation.

Thanks, Lere!!

After surgery and 6 chemotherapy treatments for ovarian cancer, I was looking for a way to get my life and diet back 'on tract'. Lere's nutrition class was the answer for me.  She showed us how to develop healthy habits that hopefully will become a way of life.  She taught us to read labels, about digestions- we are what we eat-, we learned about our bodies' ph, and more importantly, what foods to eat to help keep our bodies balanced. Not only did she give us dietary and nutritional advice, she genuinely cares and is interested in all of her clients.

I heard Lere Robinson speak at the Columbia College Luncheon in November last year. Her excitement in nutrition really peaked my interest to learn more and enroll in her  nutrition boot camp. I have completed her boot camp and it was phenomenal. I was blown away with her wealth of knowledge, willingness to share and excitement for the topic. I learned more about nutrition within the few sessions than ever before. It is well worth the time and financial investment. You will be amazed!

Wow, has my eating changed.  I'm someone who always THOUGHT that I was a healthy eater, but I did not realize just how many sugars, chemicals and preservatives are hidden in foods - foods that are boldly labeled as healthy.  In Lere's Boot Camp, my eyes were opened.  I no longer eat certain foods.  Lere' introduced me to many new foods and cooking options.  As great as I now feel in my demanding life, I'll never go back to the former ways."

Eat Your Way to Beauty

Our bodies are dependent on what we put into our systems, enabling your organs and cells to function properly and regenerate in order to create a healthy outer appearance of flawless skin, shining hair and strong nails. Eating your way to beauty is simple and far healthier than consuming a mountain of pills every morning in the hope of seeing a miraculous difference a few days later.

Inflammation

Eat to combat inflammation. This is a big culprit in ageing. Drench the 'fire within' by eating dark leafy greens, leeks, nuts and seeds, ginger, turmeric and cinnamon.

Brain Boosters

Say yes to brain boosters. Improve your memory and keep your mind healthy with ginko biloba  and keeping your colon clean.

Omega-3

Make sure you are eating omega-3 fatty acids. Polyunsaturated fats in oily fish, flax and chia seeds have shown to reduce inflammation, help fight heart disease and help keep the eyes healthy. For anti-aging benefits make sure you are taking a good quality omega 3 supplement and also focus on incorporating the good fats in your diet. Avocado, nuts and seeds etc..

Don't Stress!

Beat stress by controlling stress levels. Stress reduces immunity and makes the skin sag! Stressing too much causes too much cortisol to be secreted by the adrenals and may cause unwanted belly fat. (Remember, that the belly fat is the dangerous fat!)

Mediterranean

I love eating like the Mediterranean's do.  A diet made up of mostly fresh veggies, fruits, nuts, unsaturated fats like cold-pressed olive oil, quinoa and fish can keep your heart healthy, lower inflammation, and help you stay younger and live longer. Always good to cut back on red meat!

Calories!!!!!

Watch your calories. More than 2000 studies show that by not over eating you will live longer. Experts recommend reducing your calories by an average 20-30 % a day.

Nut and Vegetable oil

An increased intake of nut and vegetable oil is excellent for the skin. Drizzle the following oils over your salad: cold-pressed almond oil, olive oil, grape seed oil, hemp seed oil and coconut oil. Handmade soaps usually contain the good vegetable oils which moisturize the skin. Commercially available soaps may remove the protective acid mantle from your skin and dry it out.

Antioxidants

Food, exposure to sun, excessive exercise (running) and pollution all contribute to aging.  They unleash free radical (unstable molecules) that damage cell walls, stop new cells from growing, and destroy collagen as well as the protein fibers that give the skin its structure and flexibility.

Sunscreen is necessary, but you may also want to take a good antioxidant supplement.  I love AIM'S Proancynol 2000, it contains green tea extract, rosemary extract, grape seed extract, N-acetylcysteine, alpha-lipoic acid, lycopene, and selenium.  Ingredients in skin care products such as alpha lipoic acid, co-enzyme Q10 and green tea are all beneficial to the skin and cells. Foods high in antioxidants are: Berries and cherries, plums, prunes, beans, pecans, artichokes, small purple potatoes, butternut squash, red, orange and yellow peppers and carrots.

Remember, a balanced diet containing certain amount of fats, as well as clean proteins, gluten-free whole-grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables will promote a happy and beautiful healthy appearance keeping you glowing from the inside out!
