Greetings!

I am excited that Christmas is just a few days away and am so ready to enjoy some downtime with my precious family and friends. I trust that you will do the same.

Let' s look at some power foods that you can include in your diet during this festive season.

Green Food

The color green symbolizes life.   I like to think of green foods like our own blood -- something that carries with it all the life sustaining nutrients we need.   At this time of year especially, I am reminded of our precious Savior, and the blood of Jesus which is our spiritual salvation.

Just as Jesus nourishes our souls, green foods bring life to the body. They are very high in chlorophyll which is the blood of the plant, and nature's house cleaner. They are also bursting with living enzymes which promote health and help us to maintain proper alkaline pH levels.

Broccoli

Broccoli has an anti-estrogenic compound known as glucosinolates which are very helpful in reducing excess estrogen compounds that are linked to breast cancer. It also contains Indole-3-carbinol which is a remarkable cancer-fighting compound that fights not only breast cancer but has been shown to be helpful in fighting prostate cancer.

   Cherries

Bursting with antioxidants, this fruit boosts   your immunity, protects your heart, keeps your brain healthy, and has a stabilizing effect on your blood sugar.

Nuts and seeds

Essential Fatty Acids

Try not to neglect the good fats found in: salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines, trout, nuts and seeds, avocado, chia, flax and hemp seeds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, olives, and cold-pressed olive oil. Make it your goal to consume at least one of these foods a day.

Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables

Tomatoes have lycopene, which is excellent for men's prostate. Try mangoes and carrots, too, as these are high in beta-carotene. Remember, the rawer we eat, the healthier we are!

Take Time to Rest

By this time of the year many folks are exhausted! I want to encourage you to prioritize your time and only do that which you feel is important. Learn to say no to things which are not really that important and try making time just for you - a friend shared with me that we can't give out to others if we ourselves are not full. She's exactly right!

Too full

 Too Much Food!

Again, with all the food that we will be faced   with this Christmas weekend and heading into the New Year, look at every day when you don't have a party or a gathering as a day you can eat healthy. That way even if you have two or three "bad" days of eating - you haven't sabotaged everything - and you'll have more good days than bad. Also, don't take the view that I'm just going to eat as much as I want these next two weeks and then start fresh in January. Most folks never really lose the holiday weight they gain - and why start a brand new year feeling overweight?

It's important to continue eating right and exercising as you have done since the beginning of the year. That doesn't mean you can't eat a treat or two here and there, but if you keep your healthy eating habits intact at the end of the year, you won't have to stress out about getting back in shape when the New Year arrives.

Helpful Hints:

At a party - Always start your dinner with some raw veggies

If you are craving something sweet, eat some fruit first (the correct glucose) and then have the dessert, in that way, you will not eat as much of the unhealthy, fattening dessert.

Swap out fudge for mejool dates (natures fudge).

Bring out the reinforcements - Use a Digestive Enzyme as a tool when you are going to eat rich, heavy foods. I love AIM Prepzymes - a combination of digestive enzymes to help your body break down foods so you get more nutrients from each meal. It also helps eliminate auto toxicity, a result of undigested food remaining in the body. You'll avoid bloating, gas, fatigue, headaches and more this Christmas season! To order your AIM Prepzymes, go to www.myaimstore.com/lererobinson

If you don't have a digestive enzyme, try this: drink a glass of warm water with the juice of half a lemon or 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar about 10 minutes before your meal. This will help get the digestive juices going to aid in proper digestion.

Let us remember the true meaning of Christmas.
