Dear ,
It's almost the end of March. Can you believe it? Better late than never! I am in a very busy time, challenged but blessed as I experience His grace in my life.
Granola update: In the next week we aim to have finalized the raw ingredients, obtained my business license and get the final draft on the label. I have had many people calling me to ask when it will be ready. Please continue to pray that everything will fall into place. I will keep you updated.
Well, spring has sprung and so has our weight. Our clothes feel tighter, our skins feel drier and our systems are probably feeling more sluggish than usual. But with swimsuit and beach season coming up, there must be something we can do to forget those creamy, steamy winter foods, and lose a few of those sugary pounds!
In this exclusive weight loss edition, you can learn how to get your deserted diet back on track, and prepare for the fast-approaching sunny season. You will find everything you need to spring yourself into better shape and to make sure you stay that way! Hopefully, this month you'll be inspired to eat in a fresh, new way so that your pounds will melt away--just like the winter frost!
As women, we tend to be obsessed with weight. The diet industry in the U.S. alone is around 35 billion dollars. If diets worked, there would be one diet and one product on the market!
There is no fast way of losing weight permanently! No quick fixes. |
| Tips to help shed the winter pounds:
Prevent unnecessary cravings: We have lost the ability to interpret the messages our cells send us. The solution: When you crave something fatty, such as cheese or French fries, make sure you eat a good fat. Examples are nuts and seeds, olives, and avocado pears. When you crave something sweet, reach for natural glucose in the form of fresh fruit.
Prevent empty calories: It is better to eat smaller meals throughout the day instead of two or three meals per day. The solution: Increase your nutrient density by focusing on eating live, raw, whole foods like fresh fruit and vegetables and freshly extracted fruit and vegetable juices. Eat smaller meals throughout the day to prevent energy dips. When eating a fruit, add a few nuts. Avoid refined sugar and carbohydrates, as they interfere with fatty acid metabolism and strip the body of B vitamins that are needed to support and increase the rate of metabolism.
Prevent that dried-out feeling: At the end of the winter months, many people suffer from dry, itchy skin and dry hair. There are various environmental and nutritional reasons for this. We are often told to avoid fat, but fats are one great solution. The solution: Oil your body! Fight back by addressing your lack of essential fatty acids, especially the omega 3 fatty acids. Good sources are flax, chia and hemp seeds, or a good quality essential fatty acid supplement. Also dark green, leafy vegetables and/or Alaskan salmon. Some other examples of good fats are nuts and seeds, avocado pears, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, olives and yellow, sweet corn on the cob.
Prevent Dehydration: The human body is composed of 75 percent water. When we are not active, our sense of thirst declines and so does our fluid intake! The solution: Water plays an important role in losing weight. It revs up your metabolism and hydrates cells so they can more efficiently use carbohydrates and fats. Well-hydrated cells allow your liver to convert stored fat into usable energy and help your kidneys flush out toxins--and so much more! Make a daily conscious effort to drink your six to eight glasses of water. Consume more high-fluid foods and avoid alcohol and caffeine, because they have a diuretic effect, causing your body to lose more fluids.
Prevent not only weight gain but cold and flu: Do you wish you could shift a few pounds and outrun the common cold? The solution: Exercise! One of the systems that is profoundly affected by exercise is the hormonal system. When you exercise you positively affect up to 16 different hormones in the body. Exercise stimulates fat breakdown and helps balance blood sugar levels by slowing down the use of glucose and speeding up the metabolism. Exercise increases serotonin levels. This helps you to feel great! Reduce your risk of illness by taking up a regular sport suited to your lifestyle. Active people suffer from colds and flu far less than those who don't exercise at all. Remember, it's about balance. Exercising too much will cause excess free radicals in the body and can actually compromise your immunity.
Prevent a sluggish thyroid: Your thyroid controls your metabolism and is your thermostat (how hot and cold you feel). The solution: Avoid artificial sweeteners. Don't be fooled; the truth is our bodies were never designed to ingest them and they are not even close to being healthy. They are suspected of slowing down the function of the thyroid, thereby slowing down metabolic rate, which defeats the reason for taking them. Instead, opt for stevia (not truvia), raw agave nectar or xylitol, or raw, unprocessed honey. There are studies out there showing they are safe, but I'll take my chances and stick to the natural sweeteners! |
Great snacks for weight-loss:
* An avocado dip made with avocado pears, fresh lemon juice and herbal salt
* Carrots, red pepper, cucumber with hummus
* Fresh fruit and dried fruit (no sulfites)
* Celery with raw almond butter
* 1/4 cup of nuts per day (I love almonds)
* A piece of fruit plus five almonds
* Boiled organic egg with fresh vegetable sticks
* Berries and natural coconut yogurt
* Freshly sliced apple with raw almond or sunflower butter
The concept of losing weight and whole body health is simple: Lay a firm health foundation by getting the basics right, and your body will be better equipped to accept the nutrition of whole foods. |

Spiritual Health
I have been experiencing the Lord's faithfulness in many different ways. One thing I know serving Him is that we can always count on Him and that He will never let us down.
Again and again throughout God's Word He holds faithfulness up as one of His foundational qualities and a foundational quality He expects from His people. There is nothing like the faithfulness of a mate, friends and family, and God to build up our sense of security. Deuteronomy 7:9 (New International Version) Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands. Most sincerely, Lere Robinson
