April 8. Finding Your Place in the Wider Community
: Morgan Jones, Queens Director of the Mayor's Community Affairs Unit, will discuss how things work in the city and schools. Ammy Chao of Millennium High School will share fundraising strategies and why she raises funds.  An expert TaiQi demonstration and more Cultural Jeopardy round out the evening. Register here.

May 6. Successful Chinese Programs: The Herricks School District Example. Dr. Lori Langer de Ramirez, Chairperson of Herricks School District World Languages/ESL Department, will speak about the keys to the success of Herricks Chinese program.  Lillian Zhang, Chinese teacher at Herricks High School and NYU graduate, will join her. Mandarin for Future Mandarin Teachers 

Confucius Institute @ China Institute is pleased to send out the reminder that our flagship professional development program for Chinese language teachers, Mandarin for Future Mandarin Teachers summer 2011, is open for registration! Partnering with the prestigious East China Normal University since 2006, CI@CI has provided this intensive and yet highly productive program to over a hundred pre-service and in-service Chinese language teachers. StarTalk Summer 2011 Programs Announced 

The schedules and venues for StarTalk 2011 programs for teachers and students are now available on the StarTalk website. StarTalk's online curriculum development guide and multimedia teacher workshops are fantastic tools for learning and working on your own.

Chinese Textbook Survey
