Boliven Landscape™ on
Pandemic Influenza
Boliven.com in partnership with CambridgeIP research & the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has developed a new Boliven Landscape™ on Pandemic Influenza.
The WHO has identified that Pandemic Influenza - H1N1 ('swine flu') and especially H5N1 ('bird flu') - is a serious threat to global human health.
This Boliven Landscape™ is based on a patent search report provided by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published on 1 April 2011. The patent search report is combined with a semi-automated and expert-validated analysis of the technology patent space conducted by CambridgeIP experts on Boliven® systems. This Boliven Landscape™ presents an analysis of patenting trends in pandemic influenza preparedness relevant to the H5N1 and H1N1 viruses over the past several years.
This Boliven Landscape™ is freely available to all registered Boliven users.

CambridgeIP Report on Patenting Trends in the Telehealth Industry
CambridgeIP's IP Landscape of 26,000+ patents provides evidence of a rapid growth in the importance of wireless technology to six medical device areas:
- Auto-injectors
- Blood pressure monitors
- Blood glucose monitors
- Heart-rate monitors
- Inhalers
Our study focused on the effects of patents thickets on innovation and market dynamics and the role of technology standards and patent pools as a possible response to the emergence of patent thickets.
The CambridgeIP report was commissioned by the UK Intellectual Property Office ('UK IPO'), and was a contribution towards the UK Government's Independent Review of IP and Growth ('Hargreaves Review'). CambridgeIP's research identified the strengths of UK enterprises in both telecoms and medical devices technology and made policy recommendations to the recent government Hargreaves Review.
To support the diffusion and public interaction of the report's findings, CambridgeIP partnered with Boliven.com to publish an updated telehealth patent landscaping dataset on Boliven Landscapes™. This enables key stakeholders to conduct their own analysis of the underlying CambridgeIP patent datasets. These are available on: www.boliven.com/landscapes/telehealth.
