THE PERFECT PLACE - OCTOBER ISSUE
Welcome to the latest installment of "The Perfect Place." As a real estate agent in New York City, I am constantly exploring. Whether with clients looking for their "perfect home" or friends attempting to find the "ideal meal," I am always in search of the perfect place.

Every month, I send out a newsletter discussing downtown neighborhoods, new buildings, hot restaurants, great shops or fun things to do in the city. I hope you enjoy it.

"Are you crying?!?!" asked my co-worker as I descended the steps of 64 Perry. "I'm tearing," I retorted. I have never seen a town house with so much history and craftsmanship still intact. It moved me to tears, literally! I cry at things of beauty: Angkor Wat, the Mona Lisa, historic homes, a perfectly cooked pizza...

64 Perry is located on a famous tree lined block in the West Village, next door to the Sex and the City town house. Built in 1866, the property has had only two owners who have kept it a single family home. As a result, all of the artistic parquet floors, molding details, marble mantels, and stained glass windows are original. During our open houses, brokers reiterated my sentiment, "This is one of a kind." The story of the homes last owners is also heartwarming. See the NY Times article below about the gay couple who owned the home for the last 50 plus years.

I admit that the property had me welling up. Maybe it was the story of the owners, maybe it was all the beautiful artisan workmanship, maybe it was the stray kitten, with a bell around its neck that followed me around. She purred and rubbed against my legs as I stared in awe at how people use to live in the 1800s. I wish I lived in another time period and this home transported me. This is probably the reason that I took a million gratuitous photos of the property and of myself standing around as if I actually lived in the home. Within a week, we had multiple offers and a bidding war ensued. Yesterday, I stood in the backyard, which is shaded by a chestnut tree, dropping its bounty as if asking to be roasted over an open fire. I said goodbye to my dream home. And when the contract is signed, I will cry, because it won't be mine.

food festFall Outdoors

This may be the last month to enjoy eating outdoors before the weather turns arctic. If you are in the Flatiron area, check out Madison Park Eats.

The bi-annual food market runs until October 21st and is open every day from 11am to 9pm. Food vendors this year include Roberta's Pizza, Fatty Snack (hmm...pork buns), Calexico, the Cannibal (pig's head sandwiches), Red Hook Lobster Pound (last chance for a lobster roll), Asiadog, Sigmund Pretzel Shop (jalapeno cheddar or feta and olive? tough choice), Stuffed Artisan Cannolis, and Momofuku Milk Bar (a slice of crack pie, need I say more?).

Views of the Flatiron, leaves changing in Madison Square Park, Fall's crisp air and gourmet bites equal the perfect New York moment.

If you have lived in New York for any amount of time, then you have surely taken in a performance at Joe's Pub. It's a NYC institution!

After a long summer renovation, the downtown music venue will reopen tomorrow, October 4th. The new interior design layout features improved sight lines and a shorter bar to make room for more concert seating. Joe's Pub is now a fully seated venue and you can choose your seats online. Additionally, there is a new entrance in the lobby of the Public Theater, so people can wait inside before shows. The menu is the same, but the owners plan to expand the kitchen and revamp the menu for 2012.

I am buying tickets now. Check out the full calendar of performances HERE.
