THE PERFECT PLACE - FEBRUARY ISSUE
Welcome to the latest installment of "The Perfect Place." As a real estate agent in New York City, I am constantly exploring. Whether with clients looking for their "perfect home" or friends attempting to find the "ideal meal," I am always in search of the perfect place.

Every month, I send out a newsletter discussing downtown neighborhoods, new buildings, hot restaurants, great shops or fun things to do in the city. I hope you enjoy it.

I may be jumping the gun since 41 Bond does not open until next year, but the renderings have me chomping at the bit.

Located on the most exclusive block in NoHo, the 7-story building will consist of floor-through residences, a town home and a penthouse duplex all with extensive landscaped outdoor space. Each residence features a 50-foot long great room with fireplace, enclosed by a south facing sliding glass wall. The glass walls retract to offer al fresco living overlooking a private 32-foot long landscaped terrace. The front façade of the building is covered in elegant bluestone, while wide, lofty windows over look Bond Street.  Additionally, the project contains an innovative green roof design helping to reduce energy consumption and storm-water runoff.

David Burke, of cheesecake lollypop fame, is opening his first downtown restaurant at The James Hotel in SoHo. Already visible on the menu is his inventive American cuisine and signature playfulness.  Dishes like Pretzel Crab Cake, Fennel Hay Chicken for two with cheddar cheese eggs (photo on right) and the Sunday special "Shanks a Lot" (three shanks of different meats). Come Spring, an outdoor deck called the Treehouse Bar will serve specialty drinks and snacks. Flatbreads with savory spreads (chicken liver, prune and pistachio) served with flatbreads can be washed down with Pomegranate Frost (cachaça, pomegranate, rose water, champagne) or the Rabbit Hunter (bourbon, ginger beer, mint, lime). I've always been a DB fan. Now I don't have to travel far to satisfy my craving.

meadowWorth Its Salt

The weather in NYC has been horrible. The streets are covered in snow, salt, snow, salt, repeat. You would think a store filled with more salt would have me running for the hills. But no, seeing tiny bottles filled with beautiful colors and flavors of the fine crystalline substance stilled my beating heart.

The Meadow, recently opened in the West Village, offers a mind blowing 165 varieties of salt from Molokai red and black onyx to Tahitian vanilla and French sel gris. For those who don't know how to use certain types, the store offers tastings, cooking classes and salt pairings. Think Bloody Mary in a glass rimmed with smoked salt. The store also sells artisan chocolates, bitters, flavored liquors, fresh flowers and stacks and stacks of pink Himalayan salt blocks. Hostess gifts have never been easier.
