Greetings!

How do you feel, really, when you think of the next few weeks?  The holiday season that ends the year might fill you with goodwill and anticipation or it might weigh you down with short days, extra work, and a sense that you can't possibly get everything done.  You might even be haunted by the feeling that you are missing something that everyone else is experiencing.

You're not.  That feeling of anticipation is very close to a feeling of undefined dread.  Whenever we mark the passing of time, we remember that time is a limited commodity. It's one thing we cannot extend or reproduce. We don't even know how much of it we have.

Maybe we celebrate at this time of year precisely because it is a difficult time to celebrate. In good NLP fashion, we integrate light and music and good food into our vague sense that time moves too quickly.  We connect with other people so that we can become more resourceful and more optimistic.

Whether you love or dread December, it is upon you now. Visit us on the web or - best of all - in person. We will help you plant seeds - deep in the darkest ground - that will grow all through 2012.

Linda

All Welcome: Transformational Storytelling

Stories work.  The right story at the right moment can see you through a struggle, point you toward a goal, or help you navigate a difficult relationship.  Stories tell us who we are together and what we can expect from people and places and situations. Stories transform presence into possibility.

Whether you have a great story to share or you just love listening to storytellers, please join us for a celebration of the ways stories enter our lives and change them. Linda will even explain some of the patterns woven into a story that means something special to her.

I know it's hard to make plans at this time of year - but you'll hear something that will shift your burdens, free your imagination, and send you back to work on Friday more ready to enjoy the rest of the month.

Call Carole so we know you're coming (416-928-2394)

Natural Learning Patterns: NLP for Learning & Skill Development
Linda Ferguson with Mike Verhey

Linda has been a teacher for more than 30 years. Mike is a coach/consultant who gets tangible results for even his most difficult clients.  Together, they are passionate about finding the most effective way to accelerate learning so that people can get results they like. Learning is the heart of sustainable change: the process of building skills or developing attitudes that allow you to like the results you get.

Here's why you should call Carole now and register:
  • It's an amazing value in honour of the season.  You'll get hundreds of dollars of value in exchange for one can of baby formula!
  • You will learn practices in one day that you will apply over and over again when you want to learn better or faster.
  • You will have fun.  Your brain loves to learn and we'll let the rest of you in on the party!
This is a brand new one day course that introduces the key concepts of NLP by exploring their connection to powerful and elegant learning practices. NLP practices work your mental muscles in the same way that they work when you are naturally good at learning. Becoming intentional about this conditioning allows you to learn better in more situations. Learning better allows you to adapt to changing situations to get more of what you want.

Whether you want to accelerate your progress towards a goal, solve a problem that has you stuck, or simply know more about how people think when they are at their best, this is a terrific course.  It's suitable for newcomers, and for practitioners who want new frames for the skills and knowledge they are already using.

The Evolution of NLP Canada Training: Great Stuff Ahead!

The community at NLP Canada Training grows stronger and more active with every course we run.  Many of you will have noticed that there are three new trainers profiled in this newsletter.  All of them are extremely accomplished as coaches, trainers and business people. I am delighted that they have decided to add NLP trainer to their skill set and am thoroughly enjoying training beside them in NLP practitioner courses.

Mike Verhey, Andrew Freund and Ron Vereggen are also three members of the Advisory Board which assists me in setting direction, solving problems, and developing new products for NLP Canada Training.  You'll be meeting the full board soon.  Each of them are Master Practitioners of NLP who have long been friends to me and to this work. Together we are planning to build not just this company but this work so that more people can more easily connect with the resources they need to do amazing things in their work and lives.

Visit NLP Canada Training on the web, and you'll find evidence of our new direction.  The navigation is cleaner and more clearly designed to show us for what we are: the most innovative and accomplished trainers of NLP in Canada.

How can I say that with such confidence?  Read the blog entries posted below.  They were written by two very different people who took the July practitioner course last summer.  I know we are the very best at what we do because I have such strong, ethical, interesting clients.  I am so proud to be part of their lives and work. This community is thriving and I can't wait to see how it evolves in 2012.

consumer insight: a walk in the park
an excerpt from the Vivid Connections blog, by Kerry Owen

July was a great learning month for me.  My business and my family let me feed my need for new things and after six days of intensive learning I became an NLP practitioner.  It was a wild and wonderful six days and I left feeling intrigued with the brain and curious about people.  It also left me feeling restored about consumer insight, and why it really is like taking a walk in the park.  Let me tell you why.

The practice of NLP, or neuro-linguistic programming, encourages us to observe others and calibrate their behaviour. . . .

How to Listen as though Your Life Depended on it
an excerpt from
A Modern Philosopher: Daily Musings on Success Principles by Brent Huras

Being open and receptive to others is extremely important. If you are closed off from other people, the world seems to be against you. Things feel hostile, resources seem scarce. The more closed off one is, the more energy one puts towards defenses, walls, safes, securities and so forth. Life is a struggle to survive from one day to the next. However if you are open to other people, life is harmonious and easy. Things are more peaceful. People are naturally generous with you, and you with them. There's a certain trust that emerges with the world itself, that you will always be looked after and provided for. Such is the importance of receptivity.

The biggest benefit of being receptive to others? I learned this in NLP; it's trippy. We actually help each other out without knowing it! Our unconscious minds are wired to to reach out to one another, and give each other the bit of insight that we need at that moment. . .

Building Your Lighthouse with NLP
Ron Vereggen, Trainer
$135 (+HST) or register with a friend for $5 more
NLP Practitioners trained at NLPCT are only $75 +HST

It's important to know what your goals are and to be clear about the resources that will allow you to reach them. Many of your goals need something more.  Whether you are working within a company, community or family, achieving your goals means building your credibility, likability, and visibility.  You can think of this as building a lighthouse that shows the clear path to your success.

In this one day course, Ron Vereggen will pick up at the point where you are clear about your goals and resources.  Working with Ron, you will construct your own customized lighthouse: your ability to be influential within a group so that you can move toward your goals.  You will identify the strengths and experience that give you credibility (a foundation), the relationship skills that support your vision (the lighthouse itself), and the light that will make you visible, show others the path to success and make your own outcomes achievable.  In short, you will use the core skills of NLP (congruence, connection and communication) to support your leadership in any group you choose.

You know what you want. You know you have the skills and strengths you need. Why aren't people following your lead and supporting your vision?  Maybe you haven't built your lighthouse yet. Whether you are an experienced practitioner of NLP or new to the field, this one day course will lead to better results as you work in your family, group or organization.
