Greetings!
I open with an apology because this newsletter is late. Sometimes life is like that: Chris and I live and work with intensity and once in a while we both need to step back, just a little, and attend to other things. We are never far away, but sometimes we need to go slow before speeding up.
Those of you who know us will have a good idea what that means. Those of you who only know us through this email will also know when you think about the times in your own life when the way forward has had a few turns you did not entirely expect and a few hills that took a little while to climb.
Every spring is exciting in a climate that changes as much as ours does. It is possible to be completely engaged in watching the buds open on the trees and the grass turn from brown or gray to a warm, improbable green. As we enjoy the sunshine, we teach ourselves that change comes faster than we think and sometimes that's an excellent thing.
This spring, we are going fast and slow. In this newsletter, you'll find that we are offering two new one-day courses (one for everyone and one just for our NLP practitioners). We have some new and some returning evening programs. We have practitioner trainings in Ericksonian hypnosis and NLP.
It would be good to meet you at an event soon.
Linda

Ericksonian Hypnosis begins this weekend, April 17/18
You might have read about Ericksonian Hypnosis on our Facebook page or in the last newsletter. I wonder if you've wondered what it would be like to be hypnotized, or whether you would be able to do your work more effectively if you understood how to make suggestions that were as inconspicuous as they were powerful. It's possible that you are just a little frazzled by a stressful time and you would like to rest deeply and well or that there is someone close to you who needs you to provide a safe anchor.
You might not have realized that all these different wants and needs have something in common. That something is the state of completely relaxed focus in which the conscious and unconscious minds work together for health, creativity and behavioural change. Trance is much more than a stage trick: it's a state of natural balance that allows the human mind to perform better without noise, stress or unhelpful resistance. Click here for the details on the courseor call Carole at 416-928-2394 to register.

What's the best way to take the NLP Certification? We are often asked about the difference between the 3-weekend NLP Practitioner certification and the 6-day summer intensive NLP Practitioner certification. Neither is a better course: they work from the same manual and the same outline. The experience of each is, of course, a little difference.
When someone asks which of the two I would recommend, I usually say that the one that fits your schedule and goals is the one you should take. As much as there are differences in the way you integrate the material and how you understand the shifts that happen, the most powerful reason to take NLP has nothing to do with the format of the course. This is particularly true at NLP Canada Training, where we encourage you to come back and repeat all or part of your training as often as you like in the first eighteen months following your certification.
This spring, we have a weekend course that runs May29/30 and June 12/13 and June 26/27. We have summer intensives that run from July 12-17 and from August 8-13. We expect that they will all be terrific courses. The weekend course will offer people a chance to move directly from work to the course and back again, immediately noticing changes and progress and new abilities. The intensive courses offer the benefits of a retreat, a time set apart for growth, reflection and skills development. On the weekends, you have time to apply and study after each two day unit. In the summer, you have no time to be distracted or stressed by other things in your life and work. Both choices are good choices.
To ask me to choose between the weekend course and the intensives is like asking me to choose between my children. There are certain circumstances in which one would do better than the other, but I would have to know the circumstances in order to make that evaluation.
The only exception, of course, is that people from beyond the GTA find it much easier to arrange to travel to Toronto for 6 consecutive days. We schedule our summer courses during times when visitors are welcome to book rooms in nearby university residences. Toronto is beautiful in the summer and accommodations at the university are very reasonably priced. We even offer a small travel subsidy to people who have to travel to Toronto to study with us.
So think about what works in your life, and take that program, knowing that you will be welcome to come back and practice and play at any of the other trainings.

Purpose and Presence: New on May 16, 2010 We are very excited to offer you the next in a series of one day courses that allow newcomers and experienced practitioners to explore the way NLP practices open up new choices. For a long time, Chris and Linda have talked with practitioners about the way that NLP practices contribute to being fully present and to acting with a sense of purpose.
On Sunday, May 16 we will offer a one day course that will be suitable for people of all levels of experience with NLP who are eager to explore how they experience themselves and the world when they have a sense of both presence and purpose. We will be using the best of NLP practices to work content free. Some people will explore their spiritual selves while others will use the day to develop new perspectives on their life at home or their role at work.
If you're an NLP practitioner, you know that working with the structure of your experience opens up new possibilities in that experience and you will not be surprised that people in the same class could use techniques to move toward very different goals. If you are new to NLP, this might seem surprising. That's why it's a great entry point: you learn that at the core NLP offers practices for supporting each other and working together without sharing personal content.
Our focus is will be on how: how do you know when you're moving with purpose? how do you change your perceptions to be more fully present in a situation or relationship? how do you make choices about what your purpose will be? We'll offer you some new ways to move through your own experience, pulling together your values, ideas, sensory information, physiology, expression and beliefs.
You'll be challenged, energized, inspired and curious. Call Carole at 416-928-2394 to register.

Special Programs for NLP Practitioners This spring, we're looking forward to some special events for Practitioners only. Mark your calendars for Monday June 28. Take a day away from the office for an advanced program available only to NLP Practitioners on Language Patterns: Notice Them; Pace Them; Change Them. Watch for details and invitations in the coming months.
We're also working on the planning process for our next Fall Symposium. Please note that we have to postpone the event planned for May 2 until Chris is back on his feet and able to play. In the meantime, watch your mail for a brief survey on what you'd like to see when the NLP Canada Training Community gathers in the fall of 2010.
