It's the perfect time to get together & get it together

Happy November.  We know it's not everyone's favourite time of the year: the sky is grey, the trees are bare, and winter is just around the corner.  But we love it. We love it because it's the perfect time to pull people indoors to learn, to share stories, and to make changes that work.  In November, we are offering all three certification programs: we're completing an NLP practitioner certification and running programs in both Hypnosis and the Enneagram.

We're also running evening programs - a great chance to meet us and our community or to brush up your NLP skills.  The details of our programs on November 19 and December 3 are discussed below. We're looking forward to both of these tried-and-true programs. They cover two of the keys to NLP: making rapid, useful connections and knowing what you want.

If it's a good time for you, join us for a course or event. We would love to meet you and to introduce you to some of the amazing people who make up our community. If you can't make it to downtown Toronto this month, enjoy the links and information here.

The Enneagram: Wisdom & Practice for Better Coaching Results

Have you watched the video of Barb Luedecke speaking at the HOPE Symposium? It's split into three files; you can see the first one here.  It's a terrific introduction to how Enneagram patterns have allowed her to connect more quickly, more deeply and more effectively with her executive coaching clients.  Barb has a great toolkit: she has many years of experience as a coach and consultant working with hundreds of people in dozens of Canadian firms.  She knows her stuff and she gets results.
Dr. Barbara Luedecke
The Enneagram is a system of personality styles that are useful for identifying characteristic patterns of motivation and behaviour.  It's an excellent complement to NLP: Enneagram identifies characteristic patterns and NLP offers tools for balance or change. Both depend on narrative, metaphor and personal connection to get optimal results more quickly than you might believe possible.

Tom Condon was one of Barb's teachers in the Enneagram. You can find many samples of his work on YouTube including this video. Whether you are a coach or a manager, you'll find it useful to notice how elegantly Condon uses a conversation to identify different Enneagram styles.  Once he has a working theory of someone's Enneagram style, he has a direct line to the leverage points that will motivate that person.

Barb will not only teach you about the Enneagram: she will be using what she discovers about your Enneagram style to enrich your experience and facilitate your learning.  You'll find that the Enneagram patterns are 'sticky': it's easy to remember them and easy to apply them.

The Enneagram is a system of nine personality types based on motivation.  Each type is characterized so that it is easy to learn and easy to apply in a variety of contexts.  The more you study the system, the faster you will be able to achieve deep rapport and make suggestions that are likely to be acted on by the people you coach.

What would change if you cleared away all the noise?

Did you ever wonder why high-performing business people might be interested in hypnosis? It's not about what they can do to other people: it's about what they can do for themselves. Hypnosis is a state of deeply relaxed focus; it frees the mind to be its most productive with the least wasted energy. It cuts through all the noise and all the distractions.

There are times you can simply focus and do what needs to be done. And there are other times when you get distracted or edgy or irritated. You can have more choice about when you relax and do more of your best thinking.
You just have to get past the idea that hypnosis is for entertainers and therapists and learn a few simple techniques that feel great and make a world of difference.

Mike Mandel is simply the best hypnosis trainer in Canada.  Everyone who takes his course becomes better at clearing away the noise and entering high performance states. Because they are themselves more focused and more relaxed, participants also become better at communication and influence.  They cut through the noise to make direct, powerful connections.

When you visit our Better Hypnosis site you can watch video of Mike at work, explore books and links to information on Milton Erickson, and learn more about why hypnosis is an extraordinary tool for creating relaxed focus and high performance states.

If you'd like to do more or do better, call to register for the Ericksonan Hypnosis certification course Mike Mandel is teaching on November 14 & 15 and November 20, 21 and 22.
NLP Master Practitioner launches new CD with song to remember

If you were at the HOPE symposium, you heard Willard Bond weave songs and reflections into a performance that earned an huge ovation from the crowd.

Recently, Willard posted a new video on YouTube.  You'll find his setting of In Flanders Fields when you click here.

Please watch, listen, and share this with your friends.  This video deserves to go viral as we get closer to Remembrance Day.  As you pass it on, think a little about the NLP it illustrates.  Can you catch the use of anchors and the integration of different anchors to produce a state that combines sadness with respect and gratitude?

If you love the sound as much as we do, visit www.willardbond.com this Friday, November 6.  Willard will be releasing his next CD, The Youngest Man in the World (some of you will remember the title track from Willard's set at HOPE). We're looking forward to hearing the rest of the tracks. . . and maybe doing some Christmas shopping. By now, you will have heard that both NLP practitioners and musicians love to play.

Linda Ferguson Have you been thinking about NLP?

While I enjoy thinking about NLP, I also believe that you only really "get" NLP when you get into a room with other people and practice it.  We call our students 'practitioners' to remind them that NLP only works when you do something. It's about making choices and changing behaviour.  One of my proudest moments came during the HOPE symposium when a speaker said that people who take our training really do make changes.

So if you have been thinking about NLP - maybe for several years or more, maybe just recently - I would like to encourage you to join one of our upcoming evening events.  The networking event is free when you bring at least one friend (both friends are free!).  It's a very practical event as we move into the holiday party season and it's also a lot of fun. You'll discover simple changes in the way you think about networking. Your take-away learning will have immediate, tangible results on how much you accomplish and how much you enjoy it as you attend holiday networking and social events.

On December 3, we will Focus on Goals.  It's an early chance (before you spend or eat your way into a deep hole) to relax and develop clarity about what you want and what it will take for you to get it in 2010. Whether you're a goal junkie who always has a long list on the go, or a goal-phobic who avoids thinking about what you want - you'll find yourself relaxing, feeling more directed, and noticing that you know how to make the choices necessary to have the life you want to have.

If it's time to stop thinking and start moving, call Carole and reserve your space in one of these programs. They're a great way to get started - or come because you've already studied NLP and you love to practice.
