Coming Up This Fall
Thanksgiving Thoughts from Linda & Chris

It's harvest time, a time to gather resources and enjoy them. These are days when we hope to see bright yellow and red leaves against a brilliant blue sky. These are the days we store up experiences of warmth and light to prepare us for the winter ahead.

It's exactly the right time to gather the learning and skills that will keep you moving in the right direction this year.

It's almost Thanksgiving.  We are very grateful for the strong community of friends and practitioners who were represented so beautifully at the HOPE Symposium.  We look forward to adding new friends and new practitioners to that community this fall.

We are offering strong certification programs in NLP,  the Enneagram, and Ericksonian Hypnosis in the coming months.  We know these programs make a real difference in the way people act, the experiences they have, and the results they get. If you would like to gather new strengths and resources, please call us. We would love to spend the time to make sure the programme you take is right for you.

Whether you are reading this because you're already part of that community or because you are curious, we wish you a happy Thanksgiving and hope to see you soon.

The Truth about NLP and Hypnosis

On Thursday, October 8, 2009, from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, Linda will lead an exploration of the truth about NLP and hypnosis.  We'll be looking at the full spectrum of training and practice and putting it into perspective.

Two kinds of people are reading this. One kind already know Linda and Chris and trust them to provide training that is both useful and ethical.  The other kind have heard about NLP or hypnosis and are both hopeful and skeptical.  They are reading instead of doing, because they are not sure what to believe.

There's a lot of hype around NLP and hypnosis.  There's a lot of choice in courses that seem to cover the same things in different amounts of time with trainers with vastly different backgrounds and credentials.  It's confusing and it can be scary.  No one has time or money or hope to waste on something that simply doesn't work as promised.
Audience at Hope Symposium
We've decided to offer a two-hour introduction to NLP and Hypnosis that will help you decide what is possible, what is useful, and where you want to go next.  We will be covering 4 key areas:
1) The magic (what people want)
2) The training (what is offered and how can it be evaluated)
3) The practice (what people do with training in NLP & hypnosis)
4) The results (what people get from using NLP & hypnosis)

If you are just starting to explore NLP and hypnosis, you'll be glad you came. You'll leave better prepared to take the next steps that are right for you. If you are already part of our community, we'll be glad you came. We hope you'll add to our descriptions and bring friends who would benefit.

Call Carole, our business manager, at 416-928-2394 before 5pm on October 7.  Registration is required.
What has NLP done for me?

I was doing a coaching session with someone last week.  At one point she stopped, looked at me, and asked: "Do you ever get stressed?"

It made me laugh.  Of course I get stressed. Sometimes, like most people, I get way too stressed.  The difference is that I am almost always aware that I need to settle down and change the way I am handling the stress. I most often know when I can do it myself, and when to connect with someone more resourceful.

It's not perfLinda smilingect as a system. I am not even in the ballpark of perfect as a person.  But. . . I am a person who says: I have choices.

And, as a result of much attention to what works in NLP and hypnosis, I am a person who looks at other people and thinks "they are doing the best they can with what they have." As I understand how that is true, I also understand how to influence their states and behaviours. I have choice about what I share and what I take from relationships.

It doesn't sound like much unless you imagine the alternatives. Imagine being a person who loses sight of the choices available, a person who is stuck in a single reality. Imagine being a person who is surrounded by broken, miserable, mean people who behave unpredictably and who cannot be changed.  That would really suck.

Through NLP, I have become better at looking at people and asking: how is this person successful and what can I learn from him or her?  Everyone I meet knows something that will give me better choices.  I knew that before, but I practice it more reliably now. That's why we call people who learn NLP, practitioners. Because we practice the stuff we know best that gives us results we like. And that's made a very positive difference for me.
Understand Motivation to Get Better Coaching Results

Few of us are completely independent.  We rely on our own efforts to get results and we also depend on other people to get results that support our goals.  You might be a coach, a manager, a trainer or a sales professional.  In any of these roles, your success depends on how well you can read and influence other people.

Dr. Barbara LuedeckeNovember offers you a rare opportunity to work with a high-level executive coach to improve your ability to predict the motivations and behaviour of the people you influence.  Barbara Luedecke regularly works with executives at large corporations to improve their results. She holds a doctorate in Organizational Psychology and has many years of experience leading and consulting at successful corporations.

On November 21 and 22, Barb will teach a small group to use one of the most useful tools in her repertoire.  When you join her class in Coaching Applications of the Enneagram, you will learn a fast, accurate, easy-to-use tool that will immediately improve your ability to read and develop rapport with the people you want to influence.

The Enneagram is a system of nine personality types based on motivation.  Each type is characterized so that it is easy to learn and easy to apply in a variety of contexts.  The more you study the system, the faster you will be able to achieve deep rapport and make suggestions that are likely to be acted on by the people you coach.
