Talk doesn't cook rice. ~Chinese Proverb
Most times it really doesn't matter what we do or how we do it, but that we take action towards our goals. That's imperfect action. Imperfect action is stepping into action even when we don't believe our steps are perfect. When you take imperfect action - doors open and opportunities suddenly appear. So, I recommend that you take imperfect action - one new action each day, starting today. Jump-start your thinking on possible actions by:
Keep your list handy.
- Review it at the start of each day.
- Add new ideas to your list.
- Check it off the actions you take each day so you feel a sense of momentum and accomplishment.
- Leave room for comments so you remember what worked and under what circumstances.
- Repeat or modify specific actions that move you forward.
Now, here's the key. Do one of the items on your list today - just do it. Tomorrow take another action. Then do another. Soon you'll build up the momentum you need to get launch your job search to the next level. In our next issue in this series, we talk about Step 2 - Raise Your Hand.
