Fox Prints March 26
Message from the Principals
Dear Parents,
Spring break is scheduled from April 2 through April 6. Monday, April 9 is a student holiday and a teacher work day. Students will not return to school until Tuesday, April 10. Our school office will be closed over spring break.
Our lost and found collection is growing each day! If your child is missing any coats, mittens, hats, scarves, sweater, (you name it!), make sure that you encourage them to take a look at the lost and found area in the cafeteria. Please know that after April 13 all items that remain will be bagged up and donated to a charitable organization.
We hope that you all have happy and relaxing spring break!
Sincerely,
Pat Sheehy Brian Moose
Principal Assistant Principal
Message from the PTA
Dear Fox Mill Parents and Guardians,
We hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather and all the fun that comes with it! Thank you to Tina Anderson for helping us to start off spring with our first Fox Mill Family Festival! It was an amazing evening of fun for the whole family. Also, thank you to Therese Howe for running our online auction to help fund this year's festival as well as to our teachers for all the time and special activities they donated.
With spring comes our second landscaping project of the year which is scheduled for April 15. Along with the Cub Scouts, our Landscaping Committee is already coordinating this year's project. The landscaping projects take a lot of volunteer time and also cost the PTA money. We are asking parents to please not allow little feet and hands to go into the garden and damage it. It's wonderful to see all the beautiful flowers and plants that are blooming from previous years. We hope everyone will enjoy seeing the flowers and plants while their at school.
Our 6th graders and staff are gearing up for their basketball games against Forest Edge. Mark your calendars for April 20 and watch for more information in upcoming editions of Fox Prints. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Spring Break! Sincerely, Lorraine Mietlicki PTA President

2012-13 Fundraising Questionnaire
| |
Last fall the PTA reached its annual fundraising goal of $30,000 in one drive by partnering with Boosterthon. The PTA used the fully funded budget to:
- Subsidize all student field trips by 50% to a total of $16,000, in other words approx. $20 per student grades K-3, $35 per student grades 4-6,
- Bring five first-rate student assemblies to the school,
- Fund three parent assemblies,
- Support numerous PTA committees,
- Adjust the focus of Family Fun Night from fundraising to celebrating our school, and
- Facilitate much-needed improvements to the school.
Next fall, the PTA wants to raise $30,000 again for the 2012-13 school year. Please give us your input on how to achieve this goal by completing a very brief survey at http://www.surveybuilder.com/s/KCbIn8-pIAA.
We are considering two options:
- Boosterthon
- Flat donation model - to keep the status quo we need $60 per student, or up to $150 per family.
Both of these options involve tax-deductible monetary donations. Please note, if the budget is not fully funded, we will be forced to make cuts, starting with the field trips.

Family Fun Festival Thank You
| |
A message from Tina Anderson, 2012 Fox Mill Family Festival Coordinator:
The Fox Mill Family Festival and Online Auction were a great success due to the hard work and dedication of so many wonderful volunteers. We could not have pulled it off without each and every one of you!
Special thanks go to the Mrs. Sheehy, Mr. Moose, Mrs. Vigen, Mrs. Mehm, Mrs. Sterner and the PTA Board for their support and participation, as well as the wonderful staff and teachers who donated activities for the Fox Mill Favorites Raffle. Thank you to the fantastic, cheerful and hardworking students (many of whom were former Fox Mill students) from Rachel Carson Middle School, South Lakes High School, Oakton High School and other local schools around the area for running all the games and the craft room! Their participation was invaluable. Justin Bull, Kerry McEwen, Connor Metcalf, Naran Moonoo, Sanjna Nag, Gargie Nagarkar, Nara Purevsuren, Faye Aarons, Lianne Aarons, Erin Bidwell, Kelly Carney, Tyler Chronister, Francis Evans, Ethan Evans, John Fee, Myles Fogelman, Baily Glauser, Ashley Gonzalez, Jack Henderschedt, Bradley Ho, Alex Kaufman, Tyler Kirk, Vanessa Laso, Liam McDermott, Grace McDermott, Nicole Moffett, Annabella Prezioso, Kelly Price, Kevin Robinson, Armon Sadeghi, Maddy Schneeberger, Caitlin Skinner, Madeline Welch and Collin Zimmerman.
We are also very grateful to the members of Girl Scout Troop #777, Ashley Mietlicki, Alyssa Nakayama, Miya Konishi, and McKenna Meek, as well as Elizabeth Owens and Catherine Evans for volunteering their time to be face painters.
Thank you to all the Fox Mill families who donated items for the games as well as the snacks and drinks for the cafeteria. My sincere gratitude also goes to the parents who volunteered their time during the Festival to help set-up the event, run the volunteer check in desk, the snack stations, the raffle sales, the ticket booths and the big clean-up. Thank you to Vince Edwards and Pete Isaacs for keeping the peace as our security detail. Parents such as yourselves, who possess a positive nature, who give of themselves willingly and pleasantly, and who support the efforts of the PTA (which help to provide the wonderful activities that our students are able to participate in at school), I applaud you. I would also like to recognize the following people who put forth an amazing amount of effort to make this year's Festival (which hosted close to 1,300 people) run extremely smoothly for everyone who attended. This event is incredibly labor intensive, and it takes a great deal of hard work, months of planning, and a lot volunteers, to pull it off. Many of you may not realize the magnitude of work that goes on behind the scenes to create this special evening, so please join me in thanking those who worked tirelessly, and sacrificed a lot of their time, to make sure you and your children had a memorable experience: Julie Akey, Rusty Anderson, Jennifer Bower, Patti Chronister, Julie Edwards, Gina Farra, Amy Fujii, Jenn Gibbs, Therese Howe, Michael Kim, Robyn Mehlenbeck, Brooke Reese, Laura Settar, Lynne Stidman, Diane Swecker, Kristi Yarnall and Catherine Zimmerman. Thank you all! |
