Fox Prints March 19
Message from the Principals
Dear Parents,
March 16 was our annual Family Fun Night. Many members of our school community attended and enjoyed the activities and the enthusiasm of the evening. We thank Mrs. Tina Anderson for her skillful leadership and coordination and her volunteers who helped run this wonderful event! We also would like to thank Mrs. Therese Howe who again organized the Online Auction.
Congratulations to Fox Mill ES on achieving the Bronze Award in the Healthier U.S. School Challenge. This Challenge is an important part of Mrs. Michelle Obama's Let's Move! an ambitious initiative to solve the childhood obesity epidemic.
Our office staff is working on plans to assist with the registration of our new kindergarten students this coming fall. Our school will be holding kindergarten registration on Monday, April 23, at 1:30 p.m. Students who will be five years of age on or before September 30, 2012 are encouraged to be registered that day at our "Kindergarten Round-Up". Please contact Mrs. Mehm, our school registrar, if you have any questions. She can be contacted at 703-262-2700. Please inform your neighbors if they have children who may need to register and may not be receiving Fox Prints.
Fairfax County Public Schools will hold community meetings to inform parents about the new elementary school progress reports. The new reports will be used in all elementary schools beginning in fall 2012. The four community meetings are:
- Tuesday, April 10, 7:00 - 8:30 pm at Herndon High School (Cafeteria), 700 Bennett Street, Herndon
- Wednesday, April 11, 7:00 - 8:30 pm at Hayfield Secondary School (Cafeteria), 7630 Telegraph Road, Alexandria
- Wednesday, April 18, 7:00 - 8:30 pm at Robinson Secondary School (Recital Hall), 5035 Sideburn Road, Fairfax
- Wednesday, April 25, 7:00 - 8:30 pm at Falls Church High School (Cafeteria B), 7521 Jaguar Trail, Falls Church
Sincerely,

Kindergarten Orientation on April 23

Kindergarten Orientation/Registration
for the 2012 - 2013 School Year
Fox Mill Elementary School will hold an orientation/registration meeting for parents of incoming kindergarten students on Monday, April 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Children must be five years old by September 30, 2012 to attend this fall's kindergarten.
We are sure you have many questions about the kindergarten year and your child's enrollment. We will try to answer all of your questions at our orientation meeting in April. We look forward to seeing you there. This meeting is for parents only.
Please return a "Survey of Preschool Children" by Friday, March 30, 2012. Click here to open the form or it can be picked up in the school office.
Upon receipt of your completed survey, the school office will then forward the necessary school registration paperwork to you before the April 23 meeting. While we hope to handle most registrations at the orientation, you may register your new student at any time. However, it is recommended that you please call ahead to 703-262-2700 to make sure our registrar, Barbara Mehm, is in.
