Family Festival This Friday!

 

FOX  MILL FAMILY FESTIVAL

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

 

Order your tickets before Friday. Tickets for orders submitted now will be held at the Will Call table at the festival.

  

Ticket prices will go up to $10 at the door!

Online Auction Item Pick Up This Week
Thank you everyone who participated in the online auction! Winners must pick up and pay for their items at the Fox Mill Elementary School office conference room from March 12-14. Payment must be cash or check made out to the Fox Mill PTA. Times for pickup are: 
  • Monday 8 to 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. 
  • Tuesday 8 to 8:30 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m. 
  • Wednesday 8  to 8:30 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m
Cafeteria Volunteers Needed
Would you like to help out in the cafeteria during lunch time? Some students need help opening lunch items, getting silverware, and dealing with unexpected spills.

Parenting Workshop on March 15

Are You At Your Wit's End? Want to stop yelling and power struggles? Do you need help calming your explosive household? Tired of yelling at, negotiating with and bribing your child? Do you want your child to take responsibility for his assignments, chores and attitude? 
 
We promise you will laugh and leave with a dozen practical strategies that really work. Come see Kirk Martin and his teenage son, Casey. The workshop is free and there is no need to register. Bring your family and friends to one of the workshop sessions at the Fox Mill Elementary School cafeteria. Both sessions will present the same content.

Mad Science Starts in April; Enroll Now
Mad Science logo 2011 Online enrollment is now open for the popular after school program, Mad Science!  "Guide to the Galaxy" will run on Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (students go directly to the school cafeteria from their classroom) for 8 sessions starting April 17 and ending June 5.   

Space is limited and spots 
may fill up fast, but please note that this curriculum is a REPEAT of the offering made last spring when Mad Science was reintroduced to Fox Mill ES.Because capacity at the school is so limited and demand has been so strong, repeating the "Guide to the Galaxy" class will give anyone who missed that opportunity to enroll their child(ren) a chance to experience this exciting curriculum on space. The cost is $104 per student.  Note that children do not need to attend Fox Mill ES in order to enroll, but please edit and update your child's information (grade and teacher's name) prior to enrolling. 

The deadline to register is March 30. Parent volunteers
 can receive free tuition and get guaranteed enrollment. If you are interested, please contact the coordinator for more information.

Sports Spectacular Starts in April; Register Now

Coming to Fox Mill this Spring

 

Two Monday afternoon athletics programs start this April. Classes will be offered outside on the fields from April 16 to June 4. There will be no classes on the Memorial Day weekend. Classes will start at 1 p.m. and end at 2 p.m. The cost for all seven classes is $70. Grades K-3 will enjoy a variety of games each week with Sports Spectacular. Grades 4-6 will have fun playing Flag Football.

Lego Class Starts in April

The slots for the Play-Well TEKnologies free Engineering with Legos class filled quickly. 

 

An eight week program will start at Fox Mill on Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. starting on April 18.

FLEX Summer Language Camps

The FLEX program will offer a variety of one-week summer language camps at Island Creek, Oak View, Orange Hunt, and Stenwood elementary schools. These camps are ideal for current FLEX students or newcomers who want to discover fun with languages. Children can begin or continue their world language learning while enjoying crafts, music, and activities, and sharing their experience with new friends.

 

Languages include Chinese, French, German, and Spanish for beginning language learners in grades K - 6. Most camps are from 9 a.m. to noon; German Immersion is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuition is $179 per student.

Kindergarten Orientation/Registration

for the 2012 - 2013 School Year

 

Fox Mill Elementary School will hold an orientation/registration meeting for parents of incoming kindergarten students on Monday, April 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Children must be five years old by September 30, 2012 to attend this fall's kindergarten.

 

We are sure you have many questions about the kindergarten year and your child's enrollment. We will try to answer all of your questions at our orientation meeting in April. We look forward to seeing you there. This meeting is for parents only.

 

Please return a "Survey of Preschool Children" by Friday, March 30, 2012. Click here to open the form or it can be picked up in the school office.

 

Upon receipt of your completed survey, the school office will then forward the necessary school registration paperwork to you before the April 23 meeting. While we hope to handle most registrations at the orientation, you may register your new student at any time. However, it is recommended that you please call ahead to 703-262-2700 to make sure our registrar, Barbara Mehm, is in.
