Register Now for Running with the Stars
| Register Now for Fox Mill's First Ever Boys Running Club
It's coming! Fox Mill's first ever boys' running club, Running with the Stars! The purpose of this club is to train for a 5K. This program is for 20 boys from Grades 2-6. Meetings will be held every Friday from March 2 to May 18 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The race will take place on Sunday, May 20 at 7:30am at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne. A buddy runner is required for each student running the 5K.
The cost for the program is $106. The program fee includes one runner tee shirt, one buddy runner tee shirt, a timed 5K event, a numbered bib for each child running, an end of race celebration and a participation medal.
Linam Sensei and Ms. Krukowski will be the team coaches, but they will need help. Parents will be required to help out with at least one training session between March and May.
Safety will be the first priority. Anyone acting in a way that may cause injury to themselves or others will be pulled from the session. No bullying will be tolerated. Disrespectful and inappropriate behavior will result in removal from the program without a refund.
All runners must have a labeled water bottle, appropriate shoes and clothing for the activity and weather. Anyone without water will not be allowed to run.
To register for this program you must complete two forms. Click here to open the waiver and click here to open the health history form or go to foxmillpta.com/programs/running-with-the-stars for both forms. Complete both the waiver and health history form and send them to school. As soon as your student is admitted to the program, payment will become due and must be paid by the first session.
Please note, this program was intended to be a two-day program, but we did not get enough coaches. The PTA is offering the program at a slightly reduced rate to reflect that Running with the Stars will only meet once a week.

Dining for Dollars: Ghengis Grill on Feb. 16
| |
Ghengis Grill
14410 Chantilly Crossing Lane Chantilly, VA 20151
(703) 961-1825
(near Chantilly Costco)
Dining for Dollars will be at Ghengis Grill in Chantilly on Thursday, Feb. 16. This place looks like a lot of fun. What a great way to hang out with your friends and your kids' friends from Fox Mill while raising money for the school at the same time. It is a Mongolian BBQ style "make your own" stir fry restaurant. You pick all your protein, vegetables seasonings, and sauce from a buffet (uncooked). Then you hand your bowl to some people working at a big hot fiery grill with long sticks, and presto, they cook it for you while you watch. Then, they serve it up with some carbs like fried or steamed rice or tortillas.
How much money do we earn? That is up to you. Fox Mill will earn either 10%, 15%, or 20% of the proceeds that come in that day from people we send, depending on how many people show up. So bring your friends and come on down to Chantilly and get your Mardi Gras celebration off to an early start. Bring the flyer or tell them you are with Fox Mill. Click here for the flyer or see foxmillpta.com.
The restaurant would like to have a couple of volunteers to help greet Fox Mill families when they come to the restaurant. If any TEACHERS or PARENTS would be willing to volunteer for even 30 minutes during the dinner rush, please e-mail Marc Rigas at rigasm@me.com.

Box Tops Contest in March
|
The PTA will be awarding THREE ice cream parties to the classes collecting the most Box Tops coupons during the month of March. One party will be held for a class from grades K-2, one from grades 3-4, and one from grades 5-6.
Box Tops coupons are worth 10¢ each when our school redeems them from Box Tops for Education. Last year, our school has earned over $2,000 from Box Tops for Education. We would like to DOUBLE this amount, and so far we have raised $1,400.
Participation is easy. Clip the coupons off the products you regularly buy and send them in to your child's class by March 31. Box Tops fit nicely into plastic baggies for easy transport to school or can be taped to a collection sheet. Click here for a link to a winter collection sheet. When sending in Box Tops, please make sure the expiration dates are visible and that the coupons are not expired.
Get friends and relatives to join the fun and cut coupons for you! Remember, at the end of the contest period, the three classes with the most Box Tops collected will get an ice cream party! For more information about the Box Tops for Education program and a complete list of where Box Top Coupons can be found, go to www.boxtops4education.com.
If you have any questions or would like to help count the Box Tops at the end of the contest period, please contact Tracey Spencer at tspencer@spencerhomes.net or 703-787-6982.

Parent Survey in March
| |
Your Views and Opinions Are Important to Us!
This spring a random sample of Fox Mill Elementary parents will receive the Parent Opinion Survey. This survey is part of the Performance Assessment and Evaluation Process and offers parents an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various issues related to our school. These issues include safety, parent involvement, curriculum, communications, and expectations for student achievement and behavior.
The survey will arrive in the mail in early March 2012 and should be returned directly to the Fairfax County Public Schools' Office of Student Testing for processing. If you receive a copy of the Parent Opinion Survey, please take a few minutes to complete and return the survey. Your opinions matter. |
