CGA Pres. Andy Hamblen
CGA President Andy Hamblen

Andy Hamblen, vice president and general manager of Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in Black Hawk, was elected president of the Colorado Gaming Association (CGA) at the organization's general membership meeting last month. Hamblen replaces Michael Smith, chief executive officer of Colorado Casino Resorts, Inc., who lead the CGA for three years.

Hamblen noted the important contribution Colorado's gaming industry makes to

the state budget and to the overall state economy. "The gaming industry pays an overage of $100 million each year in gaming taxes," he said. "We're proud to be able to support important state programs, such as community colleges and historic preservation, but we're also proud of our contribution to Colorado's economy, employing around 9,000 people and adding over $2 billion each year to Colorado's GDP."

Joining Hamblen in CGA leadership positions are David Minter, owner of Johnny Nolon's Casino in Cripple Creek, who was selected as CGA vice president; and Stan Politano, executive vice president of Jacobs Entertainment, who will continue as CGA's secretary-treasurer.

The Colorado Gaming Association is the only statewide non-profit association representing the interests of the Colorado commercial casino industry.
