Hot August Nights!
This time of year is great. The nights are long and warm and the opportunity for activities is plentiful, most importantly, walking. If you don't get a walk in during the day, do it after dinner in the beautiful weather to help digestion and relieve stiff joints.
Behind your attitude and happiness, there is absolutley NOTHING better for you than walking.
Coming in right after walking is NUTRITION. And if you read the last newsletter you heard about my new up and coming book, The Healthy Blood Diet. After just a few weeks, the people who have been trying this program have been shedding weight and increasing their energy to a whole new level. I am very excited about the results and would like to extend the offer to you again.
If you would like to take your health to a new level, then please let me know and I will get you started, for FREE.
I hope to help you soon! |

Reality-Based Self-Defense Class |
This class will be taught by my Dad , who is one bad mamajama and LOVES this stuff as much as I love my job. He is kinda like Clark Kent;
he is a court reporter by day and a multi-black belt martial artist, long-time self-defense instructor and current police and SWAT defensive tactics trainer with over 40 years of training and experience in combating violent crime by night. His trainings are the reason I feel safe no matter what neighborhood I am in.
Course Description
This is a three-hour class that will familiarize you with how to use your own body as a weapon. You'll learn how to:
o Use head butts effectively and safely (for you).
o How to punch in a way that won't injure your hand (most street fighters end up breaking their hands in a fight).
o What targets to aim for on an attacker that will instantly stop him in his tracks and allow you to leave the area.
o How to set the stage for legal self-defense, where you can actually hit first legally.
o How to defuse an assault situation before it becomes physical.
o How to know in advance when an attacker is about to punch or kick you, and how to easily block it.
o And much more.
This course is 100% FREE and will be at my center on Saturday, August 28th, from 11am-2pm.
Class size is limited so please RSVP with me by August 14th to reserve your place or contact me with any questions. |

Recipe of the Month |
These are recipes from my new up and coming book, The Healthy Blood Diet. The meals below are for those of you who are blood type O. It's a versatile enough meal option that can be altered to accomodate any blood type.
Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients:
- 1-1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cubed
- 1 tablespoon plus 1-1/2 teaspoons canola oil, divided
- 8 oz water chestnuts, diced
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh gingerroot
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1-1/2 cups shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup julienned green onions
- 12 Bibb or Boston lettuce leaves
Directions:
- In a large nonstick skillet, cook chicken in 1 tablespoon oil for 3 minutes; drain. Add the water chestnuts and ginger; cook 4-6 minutes longer or until chicken is no longer pink. Drain and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk the vinegar, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, red pepper flakes and remaining oil. Stir in the carrots, onions and chicken mixture.
- Spoon onto lettuce leaves and roll up.
Here's a yummy raw teriyaki sauce courtesy of Natalia Rose, author of The Raw Food Detox Diet. Of course, once this sauce is cooked in the chicken mixture as instructed above, it is no longer raw. When cooking the teriyaki sauce, instead of using the Nama Shoyu or the Bragg's which are raw products, you can use the Gluten Free San-J Tamari Soy Sauce. This sauce, eaten in its raw state, makes a great dipping sauce for spring, rice salad or rice paper rolls.
1/2 cup Nama Shoyu soy sauce or Bragg's all natural liquid amino
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon ginger, whole or chopped
1 small clove garlic
1 drizzle toasted sesame oil
Blend all ingredients together and joila!
As a side veggie to go with your lettuce wraps, try this simple grilled zucchini recipe:
- Slice a few zucchinis lengthwise about 1/4" in thickness.
- Place zucchini flat on a cast iron pan. Brush with a light coating of olive oil and sprinkle with a little bit of coarse sea salt.
- Sprinkle some grated asiago cheese on top and grill until slightly tender and cheese has melted.
