5 Quick Secrets for Losing Weight

Nothing fancy here, just a few fun tips to help you stay DISCIPLINED  during your quest to lose weight.

  1. Use chopsticks whenever you can to eat. SERIOUSLY. You will eat slower, less, and become a wiz with chopsticks.
  2. Eat A LOT of fiber in your diet. This will help fill you up AND help keep you regular.
  3. Drink water when you are hungry (if you don't need to eat) to fill your belly.
  4. Everytime you want to binge on food just imagine duct taping all that food to your butt, hips and belly....cuz that's where it's goin!
  5. Chew every bite into liquid. This will help with digestion, absorption and slow you down so you get full quicker.

Medicine Ball Woodchop

  • Start with the medicine ball at your side touching your hip.
  • Keep your abs tight and active.
  • Moving just the arms try to throw the ball over your shoulder and instantly decelerate it with your abs.
  • Notice the head does not turn with the ball.
  • Return the ball back to the same hip without stopping.
  • Keep repeating this sequence in a SMOOTH manner and slowly pick up speed to the limits of your control.
  • Repeat for 20-30 reps or 30-45 seconds each side.
  • Use 8-15 pound medicine ball.
  • You should feel this in your ARMS AND ABS, NOT LOW BACK.

Homemade Curry Carrot Soup

For more check out our new blog at http://hallfordhealth.wordpress.com/

Carrot soup is both gluten and dairy free. And can be vegan if used with veggie broth instead of chicken.  Carrots are rich with carotenoids which have been linked to reducing certain cancers and they're also a great source of antioxidants which help fight free radicals in our body.

This soup is soo easy to make and the combination of carrots with the curry flavor is superb!

ingredients:

  • 2 T olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp coriander
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 cups chicken broth (or veggie broth if you prefer)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 pounds peeled and chopped carrots
  • 2 T fresh lemon juice
  •  fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped,  to garnish

directions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a soup pot over medium heat. Cook onion until tender. Add cumin, coriander and turmeric. Add a little bit of salt and pepper if desired. Stir spices and onion together for about a minute.
  2. Add the broth, chopped carrots and the two cups of water. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low. Allow to cook for about 15-20 minutes or until carrots are tender.
  3. Puree the soup in a blender or food processor. Place in another saucepan to reheat and add the lemon juice.

Garnish your creation with the fresh cilantro or parsley!
