It's Boot Camp Time!
So how was your January? Are you motivated and getting healthy? If you are like most of us, it is hard to get the ball rolling after all the vacations and temptations of December.
That's one of the benefits of a boot camp; support. So far our Runner's Only Boot Camp has been a BLAST and the people involved have made it into an amazingly SUPPORTIVE and FUN atmosphere.
If this sounds even remotely tempting to you, then I encourage you to give into this temptaion =). We have only a few spots left and it doesn't matter if you want to enter a race or not. We will train you to walk or run at least 3 miles in only 4-8 weeks depending on your goal, not to mention half and full marathons in 12 + weeks. Oh yeah, and as a bonus, we will help you actually enjoy the process and finish strong!

Check our website for specific race events and calendars or give into your temptation and sign up here right now!

Boost Your Energy

Without getting worried about every little thing that surrounds you, please take this info as a tool to use for increasing your energy and overall health. The more tools you utilize, the more ENERGY you will have!
In a nut shell, the human body is an electromagnetic being, as well as a carbon, water, and physical being. When a person is healthy, they vibrate in such a way that encourages proper functioning throughout the entire body, and since everything is energy and all energy vibrates in it's own way, it is essential for us to make sure that our naturally healthy vibrations are not corrupted and remain aligned towards health.
In order to do this it is helpful to know what shifts our vibrations towards health and what shifts them towards disease. Please check out Dr. Mercola's page on the subject for more details about electromagnetic fields (EMFs).

Let's focus on 4 energy shifting tools and devices.

EMFs that shift your energy towards DISEASE:
 1. Computers
 2. Alarm clocks
 3. Electric blankets
 4. Fluorescent lights

Tools that shift your energy towards HEALTH:
 1. Smokey quartz crystal - helps draw unnatural energy out of the
body. Try to find a big one and hold it whenever you can.
 2. Take frequent showers - water helps wash away "bad" energy
 3. Take frequent breaks from computer work and drink water.
 4.  Change your lights to incandescent bulbs if possible, get rid of
       your electric
blanket and don't sleep next to your alarm clock.

Try any or all of these ideas and watch your ENERGY INCREASE.
Recipe of the Month

Homemade Potato Salad

Potato Salad

For more check out our new blog at http://hallfordhealth.wordpress.com/

Ingredients
  • 8 potatoes, peeled & cut into cubes
  • 2 hard boiled eggs (once cooked, chop the whites and set the yolks aside)
  • 2 green onion stalks, thinly sliced
  • 5 fresh sprigs of parsley, chopped
  • 3 T mayonaisse (see recipe below)
  • 2 tsp yellow mustard
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

  1. Boil the cubed potatoes for about 15 minutes. Drain into a colander and allow to cool down.
  2. Once potatoes are cool, place them in a bowl and add the chopped egg whites, egg yolks, green onions, parsley, mayo and mustard. Fold ingredients together. Add more mayo or mustard if desired. Season with salt and pepper and place in fridge to chill.

Potato salad is one of those meals with endless variations! Here are some suggestions; celery, pickles/relish, paprika, chopped black or green olives, capers, red bell pepper, cayenne pepper, turkey bacon.

To make homemade mayo, follow this easy recipe:

  • 2 T freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • one whole egg plus one yolk, both at room temperature
  • one and a half cups of canola oil
  • salt to taste

In a glass bowl, using an immersion blender, blend the lemon juice and eggs together. Add the canola oil, in a slow, steady stream and continue blending until you have a smooth consistency. Add salt to taste if desired. Place unused mayo in a glass jar, tightly closed and refrigerate. Consume within 7 days. Makes one and a half cups.
