JSCA BOARD ROLLS OUT 2012 PLANS

In December 2011, JSCA's board of director's held its annual strategic planning retreat where the board generated ideas for the organization's future.

Key Projects discussed:

 - Continue providing great programming to keep with the great projects lead by each of the the committee's vice-presidents.

- Plan and execute the 2nd annual JSCA Soccer tournament bringing teams to Jacksonville from our Sister Cities for a World Cup style tournament in 2013 or 2014.
In 2011, JSCA held its inaugural soccer tournament, featuring more than 120 players.

- Explore member trips to one or more of our sister cities. In 2012, JSCA members will be surveyed to gauge their interest in taking a trip to one or more of our Sister Cities.

- Plan our next "Doing Business with Jacksonville Sister Cities" seminar. In 2011, JSCA coordinated a "Doing Business with Puerto Rico" seminar for more than 130 business representatives. In 2012, we'll look to plan a similar seminar for another Sister City and/or its host country.

-  Enhance awareness of JSCA by sustaining the public relations/outreach effort, particularly by way of local news media to better educate citizens about our organization in anticipation of attracting new members, sponsorships and support. We'll look to do more of this in 2012.

Explore a JSCA year-end party or gala for members and interested non-members. The option is being considered for 2012.

Curitiba

Mayor Alvin Brown recently met with the Board of Foreign Trade and International Relations (Concex-RI) of the Commercial Association of Paraná (ACP). One of the primary reasons for the meeting was to secure future relations between Brazil and the US.
The meeting was part of the ACP Nations - Cooperation Without Borders, which aims to retain relations  with 150 countries by 2012. This meeting was made possible by several people, including Alan Vinson (far right),  who are committed to establishing beneficial relations with the thriving nation.
