Governor & TAM
In early August, high-flying sisters Kimberly and Kelly Anyadike were invited to Sacramento to be honored by Governor Schwarzenegger, Senator Roderick Wright and Assemblyman Isadore Hall.

Robin Petgrave, Tuskegee Airman Levi Thornhill and the sisters were flown in a private Kingair to the Capitol, where they received a very warm welcome by "The Governator" himself.  They were recognized and commended on the Senate floor by Senator Wright and on the Assembly floor by Assemblyman Hall where they were all presented with beautiful framed resolutions.

This trip was organized by Senator Wright and travel sponsored by Custom Design & Construction. CLICK HERE FOR MORE.

Governor & TAM
Greetings!

Much has happened since our last update.  Kimberly Anyadike completed her history-making trip, we had a successful fundraising dinner in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen attended by Astronaut Mae Jemison, and Kimberly, her sister and I went to the California State capitol to meet Governor Schwarzenegger, Senator Wright, and Assemblyman Isadore Hall. Dr. Mae Jemison speaks at Legacy Dinner

LegacySaturday, July 25th, 2009
Our semi-annual Legacy: A Tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen fundraising dinner and silent auction was held in July and was a roaring success.  Our keynote speaker was Dr. Mae Jemison, NASA's first African-American female astronaut.  Dr Jemison commended Kimberly Anyadike on her achievements in aviation and inspired us all with her words of wisdom and encouragement.

The event was hosted by HOT 92.3 deejay Josefa Salinas. Other notable distinguished guests included Senator Roderick Wright, Senator Curren Price, Mayor Eric Perrodin, Ms. Reena Singh with Compton Unified School District ROP, & Buffalo Soldiers to name a few.

Nearly all of the auction items were sold to enthusiastic bidders.  Lucky high bidders took home a helicopter ride-along with the L.A. County Sherriff's department, Alaska Airlines tickets and many other wonderful items.

Big thanks to all those who volunteered their time and money to make this event a success, including "Songs of Solomon"!

Teen Aviatrix Kimberly Anyadike to Appear on the Tyra Banks Show and Aisha Tyler Show

Stay Tuned
Less than a month after completing her Sea to Shining Sea trip, Kimberly Anydike was asked to appear on the Tyra Banks Show.  She was flown to New York to tape the episode and was overwhelmed at the kindness and interest Tyra showed her. Tyra hailed Kimberly as a great inspiration to not only kids but everyone.  The episode is scheduled to air in early September.

That same week she was invited to appear on the pilot episode of the Aisha Tyler Show, whom Kimberly said was "awesome and super down to earth".  Kimberly was exited to receive aviator sunglasses and tickets to Disneyland from Aisha.  The episode will air on ABC in September.

Kimberly has also been invited to be the Keynote Speaker at the National Congress of Black Women annual lunch in Washington DC in September.
If you are not already an Aviation Angel, please join us now for only $50 per year at www.tamuseum.org/angels. Your membership helps kids like Kimberly to attain their wildest dreams!

It is your volunteerism and financial support that allows us to accomplish these things so once again, thank you and keep up the good work!

Sincerely,

Robin Petgrave
