Expert Retail Panel Event
The city's Economic Development Division and the Commerce City Business and Professionals Association will host a panel of retail trade experts on April 23 at 7:30 a.m. in the Civic Center City Council Chambers.
Panel members will discuss the current economic climate, existing retail market, and the future of retail expansion in the area.

Commerce City adopts economic development plan

City Council unanimously adopted the Commerce City's first-ever economic development plan.
The plan is part of an updating of the city's 25-year-old comprehensive plan, said Brittany Morris, Commerce City's director of economic development.

Derby Redevelopment Update
The Derby Redevelopment project was awarded to Goodland Construction. Construction is expected to begin in early May and is anticipated to last 4 to 6 months. The project is located at the intersection of East 72nd Place and Monaco Street.
Upon completion, the intersection will be reconstructed and beautified with brick pavers, landscaping and lighting. On-street parking throughout Derby will also be converted to back-in parking as part of this project.

Road Construction
Adams County is replacing the bridge over the O'Brian Canal on Dahlia Street, just South of I-76. Dahlia Street will be closed as of April 19and the closure should last approximately 35 days. As the county bridge project wraps up, Thornton will be starting their Dahlia realignment project which also involves a 40 day closure of Dahlia Street starting mid May. With the two projects combined, Dahlia may be closed from mid April to the end of June. |
School zone - reduce speeds
The city, in cooperation with Adams County School District 14, recently installed school zone flashers with variable speed limit signs on Quebec Parkway adjacent to Adams City High School. Funding was provided by the school district.
The installation now establishes Quebec Parkway, adjacent to the high school, as a school zone with double fines for traffic violations.
The flashers will operate from: 6:45 a.m to 7:15 a.m.; 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and 2:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. During those hours, the speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph. |
