| Don't miss your last chance to see the fall's premier exhibition, Gifts from the Ancestors: Ancient Ivories of Bering Strait. This groundbreaking exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to discover the art of the Arctic's ancient hunters. With more than 200 pieces of carved ivory, including recent Russian excavations on view for the first time in North America, this treasury of ancient art is only on view until January 10 -- and only in Princeton! |
Gifts from the Ancestors Web site Here to Stay
While the exhibition will be ending on Sunday, the Web site is here to stay! With teacher resources, interactive maps, explanatory videos, and object illustrations, the Web site serves as an insightful companion to the exhibition. More than that though, it reaches beyond to connect viewers to larger issues such as the environment, ideas of ownership, and contemporary Alaskan culture. Visit the Web site and learn more about the Museum's role through a video by Bryan Just, the Museum's Peter J. Sharp, Class of 1952, Curator and Lecturer in the Art of the Ancient Americas. |

Purchase Tickets for the Gala
The holidays may be over, but that doesn't mean the fun has to end. Inspired by the Museum's outstanding collection of Abstract Expressionist art and Truman Capote's legendary 1966 "Party of the Century," this year's gala, The Black and White Ball, is sure to be a treat for all. Sponsored by the Friends of the Princeton University Art Museum -- with all proceeds going to support the Museum's educational programs -- this is a night of festivities not to be missed. To find out more or purchase tickets, please contact Jennifer Fekete-Donners, administrator of the Friends, at (609) 258-4057 or friends@princeton.edu. |
