Griffin Hospital Carried the Biggest Bats
|
| Steve Salemme, Tommy M.R.I. and Lorenzo Pittman |
Griffin Hospital is a five time Corporate Cup champion, but they've struggled of late. However they have just added the Wiffleball championship to the Bowling championship they won earlier this year. On a day with near perfect weather conditions for Wiffleball, Stave Salemme, Tommy "M.R.I. and Lorenzo Pittman knocked off defending champs CDW-G to capture their first ever Wiffleball crown. We've got all the details and many team and action pictures on the website.

How is the 5K Event Scored
|
We've had some questions as to how the 5K Run/Walk is scored, so we'll try to clarify. As with all other events, teams can get 5 points for participation. In the case of this event, that means 1 point for each participant up to a maximum of five points. Then we get to the points for the competition part. To keep this event on par with the other events, the maximum score that the winner can earn is 25 points (five for participation and up to 20 for results). Here's where it gets a bit complicated. We will take the 20 results points and break them down by male/female participants and break the points out accordingly. If there are 40 men and 40 women then each gets 1/2 of the points. In that case, 1st place in each gender would be worth 10 points and we would work down in scoring accordingly. We will then add the participation points, male finisher points and female finisher points to get each company's total points for the run. Unlike other events, don't expect to see the scores posted on race night. Keep in mind that there will be other runners in the event besides Corporate Cup participants. We will have to get all of the results from the time and break out our Corporate Cup participants so that we can do all the scoring.

Register Now for Bocce and the 5K
|
Registration for bocce is due on June 1. We may have to limit the number of teams from any one company for this event due to space limitations, so it is very important that you don't miss the deadline for registration! Registration for the Run/Walk is June 8. Keep in mind that we cannot extend that deadline. The Corporate Cup is just part of a bigger Y race, and we don't want to end up with problems and confusion with the timer and the Y's own registration system.
The Young Emerging Professionals will be selling water and sports drinks during the Corporate Cup bocce event. 100% of the proceeds will support the Griffin Hospitals Breast Wellness Center.
There will be plenty of food and drinks available as part of the Run/Walk. |
