Join Us for the 2011-2012 Community Campaign Kickoff
Valley United Way will kick off its 2011-2012 Community Fundraising Campaign on Tuesday, September 27 with a reception at Jones Family Farms in Shelton sponsored by Prudential Annuities.

The annual Community Campaign helps fund needed programs operated by a wide variety of agencies based in the Valley.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the farm and sample some of their homegrown produce and wine from the vineyards of Jones Family Farms.

150 Children Get New Clothes for School
The Corporate Volunteer Council put clothes on the backs and smiles on the faces of 150 school children in Shelton just before the start of the new school year. Commodore Hull Reception - September 14

Commodore Hull Society members are Valley United Way's leadership givers, and we've scheduled a reception on September 14 at Vazzy's in Shelton to recognize all those who were members during last year's campaign. Campaigns Begin

The official start of campaign is September 27, but we've got lots of activity already. The Ansonia, Derby, Seymour and Shelton campaigns began with the new school year. And the employees at GE in Shelton started their campaign with a Philly cheese steak luncheon. You can always find the latest campaign activity here.

Students Elect New Officers
Valley United Way's Youth Leaders have elected their new officers. We want to congratulate Caitline Baker (Sacred Heart Academy), Bill Holt (DerbyHigh School) and Briennne Marks (Shelrton High School). 2-1-1 and Red Cross Provided Hurricane Assistance
Though the Valley escaped the worst of Hurricane Irene devastation, two United Way supported agencies were very active in providing information and assistance. Both the statewide 2-1-1 service and the Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross were busy all over the state. We've got some figures on the services that they provided that you can find here.

Enrollment Closing for Leadership Greater Valley 2011
There are only 2 openings left for this year's Leadership Greater Valley Program which begins on September 15. This is an innovative leadership program presented through the combined efforts of Valley United Way, the Valley Council for Health & Human Services and the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce. The program was first started in 1996 through the efforts of United Way and the Council and received a major boost in 2001 when the Chamber became a partner.

Harvest House IV Saturday, September 24, All Day, Shelton's Riverwalk Organized by Valley United Way, the Corporate Volunteer Council and community volunteers. Come join us as we collect food in an effort to fill a 400 square foot house with more than 100,000 nonperishable food items. Admission is free. Nonperishable food donations suggested.
