CDW-G Wins the Wiffleball Tournament
CDW-G completed their run to the 2011 Wiffleball title, but not before Griffin Hospital gave them a real run for their money. Griffin's Justin Pereiras powered Griffin to an extra inning 5-0 win over Spectrum Plastics Starters as he homered to lead off a five run explosion that sent Spectrum to the sidleines with a very respectable third place finish. Pereiras' hot streak continued in the next game against CDW-G as he homered twice in the first inning as Griffin handed CDW-G its first loss by a 7-3 score.
The loss didn't rattle CDW-G as they came back to shut out Griffin by a 3-0 score to capture the tournament - and possibly the 2011 Corporate Cup. CDW-G's winning team was solid all the way around as Tyler Galemba, Andrew Mihalko and Mike Pinto used timely hitting and a strong defense throughout the tournament. They were without Geoff Bertkau for Tuesday's games after he was a major contributor to Monday's wins.
