Healthy Teams Taught How to Cook Healthy Breakfast

The first official event of this year's Corporate Cup took place on Monday, March 7 when Healthy Team participants were treated to a Healthy Breakfast in the dining room at Griffin Hospital.The first of three healthy meals drew a full house. In case you missed it, we've got pictures, video and even the delicious recipe on the website. Click here for more information and to register for future meals. Next up on the meal schedule is the Healthy Dinner on March 31. Don't forget to make your reservation early as seating is limited. Only Healthy Team members are eligible to participate this year. |
First Scoring Event - Bowling Saturday, March 12 |
Bowling is the first chance to earn points this year, and it will be taking place Saturday, March 12th, at Milford Lanes, located at 1717 Boston Post Rd. Click here for more information on this event. Last year's winner was United Illuminating. This is the first year at the new venue. Participants should report early and be ready to roll right at the 1:00PM start time. This event is a non-handicapped bowling tournament where teams of four will duke it out to see who is the king pin. Each bowler will roll three games. Rental shoes are included in the cost of registration. There are currently 27 teams registered to bowl this year. Healthy Team Recap |
Treadmills were buzzing in Griffin Hospital's Cardiac Rehab Lab, where Healthy Team participants received their screening and fitness evaluation. All participants stopped by the lab on Monday, February 28th and Wednesday, March 2nd to find out where their health ranked and what they can do to improve throughout the competition.
Those who participated were weighed, given blood tests for cholesterol, and walked briskly for a mile while their heart rates were monitored, which determined their cardiovascular capacity. Click here for more details, picture and video from the Healthy Team Pre-Test. |
Healthy Empowerment Series Added to Healthy Team |

As an added benefit to the Healthy Team competition, Griffin Hospital invites all participants to attend any or all of the Health Education Programs offered by the Hospital. Registration for the following free events is required. To register click the links in the program descriptions found here.
Truths About Colon Screening - Thursday, March 10th, 6:30 pm
New Hope for Chronic Heartburn Sufferers - Wednesday, March 23rd, noon
This is a bonus scoring opportunity for Healthy Team participants. Participants can earn one point for each session attended up to a maximum of three points.

Valley United Way is Looking to Follow a Healthy Team |
Valley United Way is looking to follow a Healthy Team competing throughout the duration of this year's Corporate Cup. We would like to document the team's progress, take photos at the events and capture some video footage of team members and their thoughts on the competition.
