Ansonia students will be well dressed for new school year
| CVC & Youth Leadeership Celebrate!  | The Corporate Volunteer Council has clothed 156 Ansonia students with new uniforms, new sneakers, a winter coat and a backpack full of school supplies for Back to School this year. This great new service is quick and easy to use and is part of United Way's new efforts in promoting Family Financial Stability (Watch for more information in the coming month.). Leadership Greater Valley Begins in September
 There are still a few openings for the 2010 Leadership Greater Valley Program, a joint effort of Valley United Way, The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Valley Council for Health & Human Services. This is an incredible nine-week program for anyone looking to hone their leadership skills and to learn how the Valley operates. Participants have the opportunity to meet and learn from leaders of the business, government and nonprofit sectors in the Valley in unique settings all across the Valley. Leadership Thank You Reception Features the Commodore!
Commodore Isaac Hull  | Valley United Way is hosting a thank you reception for members of the Commodore Isaac Hull Society on September 14. (Members can click here for the invitation.) The Commodore Hull Society is composed of donors of $1,000 or more and is named after one of America's greatest naval heroes, Isaac Hull who was born in Derby and lived in both Derby and Shelton. The portrait that you see above dates back to the early 1800's and its owner, Cindy Cross, will be displaying it at the reception.Click here to see how this connection came about.

Towers Food Drive Benefits Spooner House
 We want to thank the R.D. Scinto Company and Prudential Annuities for sponsoring a successful food drive on two consecutive Thursdays in the "Circle" at the Towers on Corporate Drive. The food collected benefits the Spooner House at a time of year when supplies are very low. Thank you to all who donated, and check out the short video on our website.

Nick Ready for Challenge After more than 4,000 miles and having raised over $11,000, Nick Tarasovic is ready for his big challenge. On September 12, he will be swimming 2.4 miles, riding a bike for 112 miles and running 26.2 more miles in Revolution 3 Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio! Nick swam in the inaugural Housy One Mile Swim this past weekend and looks fit for his bigger September challenge. Click here for the latest update.  |

| The Corporate Volunteer Council has selected BGHS Umbrella
Program - battered women's shelter as its 2010 Week of Caring project. During the week of September 20-24, over 100
CVC volunteers will join together to rejuvenate the house, with a good cleaning
and a fresh coat of paint as well as extensive landscaping. More details will follow soon.
