United Way Announces $532,000 in Community Funding
Valley
United Way has announced funding in the amount of $532,000 for area
agencies
serving the needs of the Valley community. Valley United Way's Board of
Directors made the decisions based on the recommendations of theAllocations Committee which reviewed the
requests of the applications from the agencies. Twenty-eight volunteers
drawn
from all walks of life in the Valley spent a month examining budgets and
visiting agency sites to learn more about the services being offered by
the
applicants.
Peter Galla,
Chairman of the
Allocations Committee, noted that it was an especially difficult year
for
agencies seeking support because of the uncertainty in the economy and
with the
state budget. However, he said, "The agencies were very reasonable in
their
requests, and the volunteers did their usual great job in examining the
needs of
the community and the programs being proposed for funding. I want to
thank all
of the volunteers who worked so hard this year". To see a full listing of the agencies receiving the funds and the amounts along with a listing of the volunteers click here.
