Fred Rubino and Bob VanEgghen accept Cup from Jack Walsh
PerkinElmer Wins Corporate Cup
For the fourth straight year, PerkinElmer has walked away the Community Corporate Cup title. PerkinElmer was trailing heading into the Health Team scoring, but when the results were announced at the awards reception held at Griffin Hospital on Tuesday, a strong showing in the Helathy Team event gave them a convincing 15 point win over runner-up TEAM, Inc. which passed third place BIC as a result of the Health Team event. The full standings and story can be found on the website as well as below.
Birmingham Repeats as Healthiest
For the second straight year Tracey Cafasso and Katie Wellington of Birmingham Group Health Services topped a field of 34 teams to win the 2010 Healthy Team competition. Seventeen of the 34 teams completed all of the requirements in the event, and we have a number of healthier people as a result.

We'll see if we can compile some statistics on just how much weight was lost, blood pressure lowered and cholesterol scores improved; but we are certain that those who participated actively can see a difference in their overall health, and that is what the Healthy Team event is all about.

Results for those who completed the requirements:

Griffin Sponsorship Makes the Corporate Cup Work
Patrick Charmel accepts a thank you award from Mike Marcinek (United Way Board Chairman), Sue Reilly (YMCA Executive Director) and Bill Purcell (Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, President) for Griffin's leading role in the Cup.
Corporate Cup Awards Ceremony

The success of the Community Corporate Cup is intertwined with Griffin Hospital's vision for a healthy community which is shared enthusiastically by Valley United Way, the Valley YMCA and the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce who are the partners in presenting the Corporate Cup. The ultimate goal is to improve the health, morale, and community spirit in the Valley's employee base, and that would not be possible without Griffin Hospital's support and commitment to the Corporate Cup. Thank you Patrick Charmel and everyone involved at Griffin.
