Corporate Cup - Competition Ends!
It was a wild and busy week as the 2010 Community Corporate Cup competition came to an end Saturday with winners crowned in Bocce and Wiffelball Tournaments. Earlier in the week, a rainy and windy Run/Walk event had over 80 Corporate Cup participants.

It may have been a dreary and wet night weather-wise, but more than 80 Corporate Cup participants braved the elements to compete in the Corporate Cup Run/Walk which was incorporated into the Valley YMCA 5K Sunset Race last Wednesday at Prendergast School in Ansonia. TEAM Inc.'s Michael Zascicinghs was the first Corporate Cup participant to break the tape in a time of 20 minutes and 46 seconds. It may have taken a bit longer than most events, but BIC's Nora Espinel and Kevin Dunn came through the Losers Bracket under threatening skies on Saturday to win the Bocce Tournament. The event had been suspended two weeks ago because of darkness with four teams still alive. When the competition resumed on Saturday the dynamic duo stormed back from early deficits to knock off PerkinElmer once and Spectrum Plastics twice to win the championship. The full story and a lot of pictures can be found here.

Wiffleball is only two years old as a Community Corporate Cup event, but we may have a dynasty in the making already as PerkinElmer won for the second straight year. They had to come out of the losers bracket to do it this time. The competition was fierce, marked by a couple of walk-off grand slam home runs, extra inning games and two great comebacks in the championship game. You can find the full results, final standings and many pictures here.
Awards Reception
The 2010 Community Corporate Cup Awards reception will be held on June 22 at Griffin Hospital at 5:30 pm. At the reception, we will be announcing the results from the Healthy Team competition, presenting medallions for all of the individual event winners and finishing with the announcement of the 2010 Community Corporate Cup competition. Seating is limited, so make your reservation early by clicking here.

BIC still leads with one more score to go!
BIC

After a flurry of activity last week, BIC is still standing atop the 2010 Community Corporate Cup Standings by 2.5 points over defending champion PerkinElmer. TEAM, Inc. had briefly moved into second place following their win in the Run/Walk, but PerkinElmer bounced back with a win in the Wiffleball tournament and a strong showing in Bocce to keep their title hopes alive.

The only scores that remain to be added are the Healthy Team results. They will not be announced until the Awards Reception on June 22.
