Annual Meeting Recognizes Many
The 42nd Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner sponsored by Prudential Annuities on April 27 was a major success with over 200 people in attendance. The evening was highlighted by the presentation of the Charles H. Flynn Humanitarian Award to Dominick Thomas and the announcement of campaign awards. United Way re-elected Michael Marcinek, Chief Financial Officer of Fletcher
Thompson as chair of the Board of Directors for a second term at the
42nd annual meeting and awards dinner on April 27, 2010. Marcinek
previously held the position of community fund raising campaign chair for a
longer duration than anyone in the Valley United Way's history in addition to

BIC Takes Corporate Cup Lead |
"Thunder Chickens"  | The Community Corporate Cup competition has a new leader following a big win by a BIC team with the unlikely name of "Thunder Chickens". Not only did they win the Miniature Golf championship with a very impressive score, but they also pushed BIC to the top of the standings. You can learn more by clicking here.

Allocations Committee Reviewing Requests
Twenty-Seven community volunteers under the able leadership of Committee Chair, Peter Galla, are currently reviewing budgets and making site visits to agencies requesting funding from Valley United Way. The agencies previously had used United Way's on-line application process to fill out the financial and programmatic information about their agencies. The volunteers will make their recommendations to the Board of Directors for action at the end of June. We'll have full results in a later newsletter. |

CVC Getting Ready for Back-To-School!! |
The headline is not a misprint. Even though the current school year is not over, the Corporate Volunteer Council has already selected the town for this year's Back-to-School Clothes for Kids project. The selection will be announced next month. Every year the CVC "adopts" a school and clothes needy students for a new school year.
