Griffin Hospital is celebrating their 100th birthday this year, and we want to thank them for sharing their success with all of us as we begin the Annual Community Campaign. Fred Ortoli and his cabinet will be on hand to lay out their plans and the culinary staff at Griffin will be providing the refreshments.

Harvest House III - This weekend

Harvest House III
Join us on Saturday, September 26 on the Riverwalk along Housatonic River in Shelton as we help feed the hungry in the Valley by building a house made of food. Bring along a non-perishable item so that you can say that you are a part of this incredible project. Read more about it here.
Board Member David Grant Presented with Two Philanthropy Awards

The Valley Philanthropy Council announced that David M. Grant, Valley United Way Board member and former Campaign Chair, has been selected to receive two awards for his outstanding contributions throughout the Lower Naugatuck Valley. Grant will be honored as the Valley Philanthropy Council's Distinguished Leader of the Year Award. The Association of Fundraising Professionals will be presenting him with their statewide Award for Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser. Patricia Tarasovic Recognized as a "Woman Making a Difference"

Pat TarasovicPat Tarasovic, Director of the Volunteer Center, has been named as one of six "Women Making a Difference in the Valley" by the Valley Women's Health Initiative. She will receive the award at the 9th Annual Women Making a Difference in the Valley Tribute Luncheon and Breast Cancer Fundraiser on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 12-2 pm at the Grassy Hill Lodge in Derby.

 Prescription Medication Assistance Discount Card
Perscription Card
Valley United Way is working with familywize Community Service Partnership to help promote and distribute discount prescription drug cards, which can be used to help reduce the costs of medications not already covered by health insurance. These cards are free and can be obtained by contacting Valley United Way at (203) 926-9478. You can also print out a card and get a listing of participating pharmacies by clicking here. Through the month of August almost $12,000 has been saved in the Valley in 2009 alone!
